#11 Rome vs. #7 Carrollton — Friday, Aug. 30
Finally, Rome will begin its 2024 season on Friday. The Wolves had to cancel their season-opener earlier this month following a bus crash that resulted in various minor injuries to over 10 players who were taken to the hospital as a result. “The Rome Wolves are tough, and although we went through some trauma, we did not have a tragedy, and for that we are thankful,” Rome head coach John Reid said in a statement. There won’t be any easing into things for Rome this weekend, as it heads to. Carrollton (2-0). Led by USC five-star QB commit Julian Lewis, the Trojans won 35-7 last week and have allowed just 21 points through their first two games of the season.
#6 Walton vs. #19 Roswell — Friday, Aug. 30
After a testy season-opener, Walton (2-0) looked much more comfortable in its 41-10 victory over Lambert last week. The Raiders will look to keep momentum going on the road this weekend against Roswell (1-0), which allowed just six points in its first game of the season at Peachtree Ridge. The Hornets feature a trio of Power Four commits, headlined by Pitt athlete pledge Synkwan Smith. The On3 Massey Ratings give Walton a 63% win probability.

#23 North Gwinnett vs. #2 Colquitt County — Friday, Aug. 30
North Gwinnett (1-0) opened its season two weeks ago with a smooth 39-17 win over McEachern. It will now look to pull off a major upset and provide Colquitt County (2-0) its first real challenge of the 2024 campaign. The No. 2 Packers have scored 97 total points through two games so far and look to have one of, if not the best offense in the state early on. Dating back to last season, Colquitt County has won 11 consecutive home games. It’s favored to push that streak to 12 on Friday.
Cedar Grove vs. #12 Collins Hill — Friday, Aug. 30
Collins Hill (2-0) opened the season at No. 25 in the Georgia rankings, but quickly vaulted after a stunning season-opening road win over Grayson. The Eagles returned home last week and nearly stumbled against Woodward Academy, but landed a 21-14 win to improve to 2-0. Standout junior defensive lineman Deuce Geralds and Co. will look to steady the ship against Cedar Grove (0-1) — which was blown out by Douglas County to begin the season. The On3 Massey Ratings give Collins Hill a 60% win probability.
#20 Gainesville vs. Westlake — Friday, Aug. 30
Halfway through a four-game road trip to kick off the season, Gainesville (2-0) has looked unphased. The Red Elephants went to Alabama and ran over Moody 31-7 last week and have now outscored opponents 72-10. Senior quarterback Jamar Malone has done his part alongside a stout defense that features elite junior USC linebacker commit Xavier Griffin. Westlake, the No. 26 team in the state, will provide a taller task, however. The Lions rebounded from a tough loss to No. 4 Langston Hughes with a 23-7 win over Atlanta Douglass last week. Tennessee WR commit Travis Smith is a force out wide and will be a handful for the Gainesville secondary.
