Georgia High School Football Games of the Week

Georgia has already delivered plenty of memorable games so far in the 2024 season. Week 5 of the season is coming up and features some important matchups across the state.

Headlining the action this week is a pair of games that will feature some of the Peach State’s best taking on out-of-state competition, including No. 2 Carrollton, which will head to Alabama in the coming days.

Below are the key matchups to watch across the state of Georgia this weekend:

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

#11 North Cobb vs. WaltonFriday, Sept. 20
While it hasn’t played the best competition thus far, North Cobb (5-0) has taken care of business, is the No. 74 team in the nation and is now pushing for a top-10 ranking in the state. The Warriors have scored 40 points or more in four of their wins and will now head to Marietta for their toughest task of the season so far. Walton (3-2), the No. 26 team in the state, snapped a two-game losing streak last week and will look to get its season back on track with a ranked victory in the coming days. The On3 Massey Ratings predict Walton to pick up a major 34-28 win.

#2 Carrollton vs. Parker (Ala.) — Friday, Sept. 20
ESPN will feature two of the nation’s top prospects when Carrollton (5-0) and Parker (4-0) throw down on Friday evening in Birmingham. Carrollton QB and USC commit Julian Lewis continues to excel under center and has already thrown for over 1,200 yards and 20 touchdowns. Ohio State CB commit Na’eem Offord will lead Parker, now the No. 9 team in Alabama. The Thundering Herd have outscored opponents 152-35 thus far. The Massey Ratings predict Carrollton, the No. 22 team in the nation, to steamroll the home team by 27 points.

Hun School (N.J.) vs. #22 Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Friday, Sept. 20
No. 22 Rabun Gap-Nacoochee cemented its status as a legitimate threat in the Peach State last week by taking down John Curtis (La.) 27-12 on the road. Now 3-1 on the season, the Eagles continue their stretch against out-of-state competition by welcoming Hun (3-0) down South. The Raiders are now the No. 5 team in New Jersey and have delivered a trio of road victories, taking down programs in Pennsylvania, Illinois and Connecticut. The Massey Ratings are predicting a 35-24 win for Rabun Gap.

Blessed Trinity Catholic vs. Hebron Christian Academy Friday, Sept. 20
In one of the more underrated games across the state this week, Blessed Trinity Catholic (3-1) will look to rebound from a loss to top-ranked Milton by giving Hebron Christian Academy (4-0) its first loss of the season. The Titans played Milton close and fell 28-14. Despite the loss, the BTC defense looks like stout and is allowing an average of 18.6 points per game. Hebron has rolled through its competition thus far and is now a top-50 team in the state. The Lions will have a chance to take a leap into that next tier of Georgia’s best with a win this Friday. The Massey Ratings predict a 28-21 win for the Titans.
