Top High School Football Games in Georgia This Week
#12 North Gwinnett vs. #3 Mill Creek — Friday, Sept. 6
Previous Meeting: Mill Creek 49, North Gwinnett 14 (2023)
North Gwinnett (2-0) turned heads last week, defeating then-No. 2 Colquitt County in a 14-3 slog on the road. Now up to No. 12 in the state, it will look to slow down another top-five program this weekend in Mill Creek (3-0). The Hawks have looked dominant thus far, outscoring opponents 125-50. Gwinnett has won five consecutive road games dating back to last season but will have its hands full with one of the state’s top offenses this week. The On3 Massey Ratings predicts Mill Creek to win 42-19.
#7 Langston Hughes vs. #11 Douglas County — Friday, Sept. 6
Previous Meeting: Douglas County 30, Langston Hughes 27 (2023)
Two of Georgia’s top offenses thus far will square off later this week. Langston Hughes (2-0) has scored 52 points in each of its two games, while Douglas County (3-0) has put up 125 total points across its trio of wins. For Hughes, rising junior running back Carsyn Baker is already nearing 300 yards on the ground, benefitting from an elite offensive line that features Auburn commit Tavaris Dice and Georgia commit Dontrell Glover. Douglas County counters with an elite one-two punch at receiver in juniors Devin Carter and Aaron Gregory. The Tigers also have elite junior EDGE Jordan Carter, a top-25 national recruit in the 2026 class.
#13 Buford vs. #10 Roswell — Friday, Sept. 6
Previous Meeting: Roswell 24, Buford 7 (2016)
The beginning of the season has been bumpy for Buford (1-1) on offense. The Wolves fought through a lengthy weather delay and nearly beat now-No. 1 Milton in a 13-10 loss. Week two offered redemption, and while Buford defeated Benedictine 29-28, things were still close to comfort for QB Dayton Raiola and Co. Roswell (2-0), meanwhile, now has a ranked win under its belt after defeating Walton 42-32 last week. The Hornets have a top-10 offense, while Buford’s defense ranks No. 1, making for a classic matchup that will test both sides on Friday night.

Warner Robins vs. #22 Houston County — Friday, Sept. 6
Previous Meeting: Houston County 41, Warner Robins 7 (2023)
Headed by Memphis four-star quarterback commit Antwann Hill, Houston County (3-0) has scored 132 points in its three wins to begin the season. The Bears have looked comfortable on the road and at home and will now welcome in Warner Robins (2-1) for a big in-town matchup. The Demons lost to now-top-10 Lee County to open the season but have since rebounded with a pair of comfortable wins. Warner Robins’ Georgia five-star EDGE commit Isaiah Gibson will be the best player on either side of the ball for either team this weekend.
#6 Thomas County Central vs. Thomasville — Friday, Sept. 6
Previous Meeting: Thomas County Central 45, Thomasville 7 (2023)
In another cross-town showdown, Thomas County Central (3-0) will look to continue its lengthy winning streak alive on the road against undefeated Thomasville (3-0). The No. 6 Yellow Jackets have crushed its opposition thus far and have had the Bulldogs’ number as of late, but Thomasville — currently the No. 45 team in the state — has also taken care of its business, scoring 35 points or more in each of its three wins. Thomas County Central is the heavy favorite, but anything can happen in a rivalry.
