Georgia high school football is getting set to kick off its 2024 regular season in less than two weeks, and the Peach State will once again produce some of the best talent in the country.

The On3 Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory. According to the model — the state of Georgia features 13 top-100 programs in America.

That group of elite high schools is led by a pair of top-25 teams in Colquitt County and Buford. Below are the top 25 programs in Georgia heading into the 2024 season.

1. Colquitt County

The No. 18 team in the country, the Packers finished last season with a 39-37 postseason loss to Milton. Colquitt loses multiple Power 4 enrollees from last year’s squad, including Miami WR Ny Carr and Florida State TE Landen Thomas. The Packers will kick their season off on Aug. 16 against Salt Lake City West.

2. Buford

Buford has consistently had one of the most stacked rosters year over year in the state of Georgia. The Wolves were 11-2 in 2023 with a playoff loss to Loganville Grayson. Power 4 commits are sprinkled all throughout this roster, including USC four-star LB commit Jadon Perlotte, Clemson four-star OT pledge Brayden Jacobs and Auburn four-star CB commit Devin Williams, among others. Junior defensive lineman Bryce Perry-Wright is a top-100 prospect in the class of 2026. Buford will open on the road against Milton on Aug. 16.

3. Mill Creek (Hoschton)

Coming into 2024 ranked No. 29 nationally, Mill Creek will look to repeat an undefeated regular season that ended with a postseason loss to Kingsland Camden County. The Hawks’ senior class features a pair of Power 4 commits in Alabama four-star LB pledge Luke Metz and North Carolina DL commit Devin Ancrum. Mill Creek will kick off on Aug. 16 on the road against Suwanee (Ga.) Lambert.

4. Walton (Marietta)

No. 32 (NATL.) Walton made it to the 7A state championship in 2023 before being downed by Milton 31-21. The state title was the Raiders’ only loss of the year. From that squad, Walton loses Georgia IOL Daniel Calhoun, South Carolina EDGE Wendell Gregory and North Carolina LB Ashton Woods, among others. The Raiders will start their season at home on Aug. 17 against Snellville (Ga.) Brookwood.

5. Carrollton

Carrollton features one of the best quarterbacks in the country in five-star USC commit Julian Lewis, who reclassified from the class of 2026. Lewis’ teammate, Shamar Arnoux, is also pledged to Southern Cal. The Trojans’ junior class is headlined by elite defensive back Zelus Hicks, four-star IOL Zykie Helton and four-star WR Ryan Mosley. Carrollton lost to Marietta Walton in the 2023 postseason. This year, the Trojans kick off on Aug. 16 at Atlanta Woodward Academy.

6. Grayson (Loganville)

Another team knocked out of the playoffs by Milton, Grayson made it to the Georgia 7A semifinals before its season came to an end. Four-star OT Nick Brooks, Georgia Tech EDGE commit Andre Fuller Jr., Indiana CB pledge Jaylen Bell and Boston College DL commit Josiah Victor all return in the senior class for the Rams. Among the juniors, linebacker Tyler Atkinson is the top player in the state of Georgia for 2026 while fellow LB Anthony Davis ranks inside the top 200 nationwide. Grayson will open with Suwanee (Ga.) Collins Hill on Aug. 16.

7. Thomas County Central (Thomasville)

Thomas County Central went 15-0 in 2023 en route to a 6A state championship win over Atlanta Woodward Academy. Four-star UCF safety commit Kendarius Reddick headlines the senior class for the Yellow Jackets while the 2026 class includes EDGE Cam Brooks, the No. 60 overall prospect in the country. Central will start its season against Albany (Ga.) Monroe.
