The second week of the 2024 high school football season in Georgia saw just four of the top 25 teams in the state fall, setting the stage for a gigantic slate of big matchups in the coming days.

There was still plenty of movement in the Peach State On3 Massey Ratings top 25, however. Milton is now the top-ranked team in the state following a big win in Florida. Grayson is the big riser, as it jumped all the way from No. 26 to No. 10 after defeating Thompson (Ala.) on the road.

Below are the updated top 25 programs in Georgia heading into the final days of August.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Milton (2-0)

Previous: No. 2 (+1)
After skating by Buford to open the season, Milton went down to the Sunshine State and made a statement over the weekend, defeating American Heritage, a top-three team in Florida, 37-28. Miami QB commit Luke Nickel looks the part behind a cast of blue-chip weapons on offense, highlighted by Florida State WR commit CJ Wiley and Georgia TE commit Ethan Barbour. Milton, now the No. 21 team in the nation, hosts Alpharetta (0-2) this week.

2. Colquitt County (2-0)

Previous: No. 1 (-1)
Colquitt County has now scored 97 points across its first two games of the season following a 52-14 drubbing of Albany Monroe last week. The schedule now starts to pick up for the Packers, beginning with a ranked tilt against No. 23 North Gwinnett (1-0) on Friday. Colquitt checks in at No. 28 nationally this week.

3. Mill Creek (2-0)

Previous: No. 3
The Hawks handled a tough Norcross team on the road last week for their second victory of the season. Mill Creek currently ranks No. 4 in offensive power and No. 8 in defensive power in the state early on. Its home opener is set for this Friday against Lawrenceville Archer (0-2).

4. Langston Hughes (2-0)

Previous: No. 4
Langston Hughes is already making its case known for best offense in the state, as it has now scored 52 points in each of its first two games. The Panthers smoked Mays 52-16 last week and will now gear up for one of the biggest games in the state next Friday, as they’ll head to Douglasville to take on No. 14 Douglas County (2-0).

5. Coffee (2-0)

Previous: No. 6 (+1)
Coffee won the lone ranked in-state matchup last week, defeating now No. 21 Ware County in a tight 20-16 ballgame. The Trojans will now begin a four-game home stand, beginning with a clash against 1-0 Columbia (Fla.) on Friday.

6. Walton (2-0)

Previous: No. 7 (+1)
Walton held serve as home for the second time this season last week, racing past Lambert for a 41-10 win. The Raiders will hit the road for the first time this week and are set for a ranked showdown at No. 19 Roswell (1-0) on Friday. Walton is currently given a 63% win probability heading into the game.

7. Carrollton (2-0)

Previous: No. 5 (-2)
After averting danger on the road to open the season, Carrollton looked much more comfortable in its 35-7 win at home against Decatur Columbia last week. This week, USC QB commit Julian Lewis and the Trojans will host No. 11 Rome (0-0) in another Peach State blockbuster. The Wolves had to postpone the beginning of their season following a bus crash that resulted in various minor injuries for multiple players earlier this month.

8. Thomas County Central (2-0)

Previous: No. 8
Through its first two games, Thomas County Central has outscored its opponents 98-21. The Yellow Jackets are once again heavy favorites this week as they prepare for a hometown matchup on the road at Thomasville (2-0) for week three.

9. Lee County (2-0)

Previous: No. 9
The Trojans put the hurt on Hapeville Charter last week in a 66-6 beatdown. Uncommitted four-star running back Ousmane Kromah is off to a fast start — 233 yards and four touchdowns — and continues to emerge as one of the top prospects in the nation. Lee County heads to Tift County (1-1) this week as a top-10 battle against No. 2 Colquitt County looms on Sept. 13.

10. Grayson (1-1)

Previous: Unranked
Grayson rebounded in a big way from its stunning season-opening loss to No. 12 Collins Hill last week, traveling to Alabama to defeat Thompson in a 15-14 slog. The Rams began the season at No. 6 in the state and now find themselves back in the top 10 after a topsy-turvy start. They’ll seek for their first home win on Friday as Dorman makes the trip from South Carolina.
