Only one week remains in the regular season for Georgia high school football teams, and the latest rankings are out ahead of the final playoff push.

A couple of key matchups are on the docket this week, including a top-10 showdown between No. 2 Carrollton and No. 9 Douglas County.

Below are the top 25 rankings heading into the final week of the regular season in the Peach State:

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Lee County

Previous Rank: No. 1

Only this week’s game against No. 8 Houston County stands between the Trojans and an undefeated regular season. After a “close” game against No. 5 Thomas County Central last month, they’ve outscored their past three opponents by a combined score of 170-31.

2. Carrollton

Previous Rank: No. 2

Carrollton had no problem with East Coweta over the weekend, rolling to a 63-10 victory on the road. The Trojans now have one more major test before the state playoffs, traveling to face No. 9 Douglas County on Friday night.

3. Milton

Previous Rank: No. 3

The Eagles enter the final week of the regular season unblemished after demolishing Johns Creek 56-0 over the weekend. Rival Roswell — the state’s No. 14 team — will be looking to pull off the upset and play spoiler to their chase for an undefeated campaign.

4. Buford

Previous Rank: No. 4

Buford has been dominant in recent weeks, holding its past three opponents to a combined 21 points while putting up games of 51, 50 and 49 during that span. They’ll look to take that momentum into the playoffs after a matchup with rival No. 19 Mill Creek on Friday night.

5. Thomas County Central

Previous Rank: No. 6 (+1)

After losing to Lee County on September 28, the Yellow Jackets bulldozed their next two opponents by a combined score of 123-10. Houston County gave them a good fight on Friday night, but TCC ultimately prevailed 41-31. One of the biggest games in the state this year will go down this weekend when they host No. 11 Coffee.

6. North Cobb

Previous Rank: No. 5 (-1)

The Warriors have been untested for much of the regular season, routinely blowing out their opponents en route to a 9-0 record. They’re heavily favored again this week against a 3-6 Wheeler squad and should enter the playoffs undefeated.

7. North Gwinnett

Previous Rank: No. 7

Another undefeated squad, North Gwinnett got a scare for No. 25 Norcross on Friday but ultimately left with a 27-21 victory at home. They are also primed to finish 10-0 before the playoffs begin.

8. Grayson

Previous Rank: No. 8

The Rams begin what will be a whirlwind week of games to make up for those they missed earlier this season due to the hurricanes and associated issues in Georgia. They’ll play this Friday against Archer, then return to the field Tuesday to host Heritage before a game on Friday, November 8 at Newton to close the regular season. They’re heavy favorites in each.

9. Douglas County

Previous Rank: No. 9

Douglas County is 1-1 against ranked opponents this year, beating Langston Hughes before dropping a 31-14 defeat to Buford the next week. They’ll close the season with maybe their biggest test to date, hosting star quarterback Julian Lewis and No. 2 Carrollton this weekend.

10. Langston Hughes

Previous Rank: No. 10

The Panthers have crushed their past three opponents, winning by a total margin of 160-7. Before they enter the playoffs as one of the state’s top title contenders, they’ll face 6-3 Lovejoy at home on Senior Night.
