The high school basketball season is well underway, and with holiday tournaments now in the rearview, top teams across the nation are beginning to emerge.

In Georgia, 10 schools are currently top-150 teams nationally, according to the On3 Composite Rankings. Grayson remains at the top of the Peach State and is also now the No. 4 team in the nation.

Below are the top 25 teams in Georgia, as of Jan. 11.

The On3 Composite Rankings is a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. It includes Massey, Max Preps, HSRatings (formerly Cal Preps), ESPN and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.

1. Grayson

Grayson is off to a flying start and continues to establish itself as a national power. The Rams, led by Georgia forward signee Jacob Wilkins and star junior shooting guard Caleb Holt, are now 14-1, with their lone loss coming to Columbus (Fla.) during the City of Palms Classic last month. In-state wins over No. 2 Wheeler, No. 3 McEachern and No. 5 Milton have built quite the résumé heading into the back half of the winter.

2. Wheeler

Wheeler has also tested itself against a stacked schedule to this point and currently owns a 13-3 record. Despite losing to Columbus (Fla.) and top-ranked Grayson, the Wildcats have bested the likes of Timpview (Utah), Prolific Prep (Calif.), Paul VI Catholic (Va.) and Philadelphia Imhotep Institute. Four ranked in-state bouts remain on the docket later this month.

3. McEachern

Despite losing future NBA lottery pick Ace Bailey, McEachern is back as a top team in the Peach State this season. The Indians are now 12-3 after a 10-point win over Campbell on Friday. The Powder Springs program has notched a pair of ranked victories thus far, defeating No. 13 Kell and No. 19 Hillgrove. Senior center JD Palm sets the tone for the No. 3 team in the state.

4. Pace Academy

Pace Academy is off to a 14-2 start, rolling through what’s been a not-so-stout schedule. The Knights have scored 75 points or more 10 times so far. Their biggest test of the season comes next Saturday, Jan. 18, as they’ll take on No. 3 McEachern.

5. Milton

After losing a pair to games to Phenix City Central (Ala.) and St. Joseph (Calif.) to round out 2024, Milton has rebounded well with a pair of victories in 2025 to bring its record to 11-3 overall. The Eagles are 10-1 against in-state programs, taking down Norcross and Etiwah, among others. Later this month, they’ll head to No. 2 Wheeler for a massive top-five clash.

6. Woodward Academy

Woodward Academy is looking to reign atop Atlanta and is now 11-3 this season. The War Eagles picked up early ranked wins over Newton and Lambert to bolster their résumé. After defeating Dunwoody by 28 points last time out, they’ll return to action on Jan. 13 against Decatur.

7. Newton

Newton is 1-4 in ranked games so far this season and enters the third week of January with an 11-5 record. The Rams have played stiff competition in and out of Georgia and are poised to take that next step heading into the spring, with games against the likes of No. 2 Wheeler and Tri-Cities on tap for later this month.

8. Holy Innocents Episcopal

After losing two of its first three games of the season, Holy Innocents Episcopal has now won 11 in a row and is 12-2 on the year. Behind superstar power forward Caleb Wilson, The Golden Bears have taken down No. 7 Newton, No. 15 Alexander and No. 10 Tri-Cities amidst its winning streak.

9. Norcross

It’s been an up-and-down season for Norcross to this point, as it is now 11-6 after losing to Duluth on Friday night. The Blue Devils has lost three of their last four after winning five of six last month. Some favorable matchups are on deck ahead of a Jan. 25 battle against No. 3 McEachern.

10. Tri-Cities

A 71-60 victory over Dunwoody made it seven wins in Tri-Cities’ last eight games, bringing it to 10-3 overall. The Bulldogs have just one ranked victory so far, but they can double that total by taking down No. 6 Woodward Academy in an Atlanta matchup on Jan. 11.
