Hawaii High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Nov. 5
The Hawaii On3 Massey Ratings top 25 list as of Nov. 5 considers the results from the games during the first weekend of November. While it features the same teams from the previous list, some teams changed positions. Here’s how the best squads in Hawaii high school football are ranked weeks before the state playoffs commence.
The On3 Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory. According to the model, two teams from Hawaii rank in the top 100 nationwide.

1. James Campbell
The Sabers escaped with a six-point victory over seventh-ranked Kapolei, giving them their ninth win in as many games. While the Hurricanes raced to a 36-14 halftime lead, James Campbell outscored Kapolei in the second half, 35-7, to remain undefeated.
Zayden Alviar-Costa and Rusten Abang-Perez combined for 295 receiving yards and five touchdowns. Meanwhile, Cal commit Jaron-Keawe Sagapolutele had 32 completions for 473 yards and six touchdowns. The Sabers will put their record on the line against second-ranked Kahuku on Nov. 8.
2. Kahuku
The Red Raiders returned to the second spot in Hawaii high school football after a convincing 35-6 victory over Mililani. Matai Fuiava had 176 passing yards and two touchdowns thrown to Aiden Manutai and Kea Lerner. On defense, Maximum Fonoimoana had three tackles and two sacks. Kahuku will face Campbell on the 8th, hoping to avenge their loss to the Sabers on Oct. 19.
3. Mililani
During their recent encounter, the Trojans failed to match Kahuku’s energy and offensive prowess. Treston McMillan found Derek Tsuchiyama in the end zone for their only points against the Red Raiders. However, Mililani can bounce back by defeating Kapolei on Nov. 9.
4. St. Louis
The Crusaders earned their third victory over Punahou this season. In addition to limiting the Buff ‘n Blue to three points, Nainoa Lopes led St. Louis with 18 completions for 224 passing yards and three touchdowns. The Crusaders will try to improve their record by defeating Kamehameha on Nov. 8.
5. Kamehameha
While the Warriors lost to Punahou, some of their players are worth commending. Pono Kahaulelio completed a touchdown pass to Nainoa Melchor, while Madden Aquino added seven points on two field goals and an extra point. Kamehameha will have another game against St. Louis on the 8th.
6. Punahou
The Buff ‘n Blue suffered consecutive losses against St. Louis by a cumulative score of 85-17. Punahou scored only three points in their second match versus the Crusaders, courtesy of Dash Watanabe’s field goal. Punahou finished the 2024 Hawaii high school football season with a 3-6 overall record and a 1-4 league record.

7. Kapolei
The Hurricanes fell short against Campbell, extending their losing streak to three games. However, they had excellent performances during the loss, like Leysen Rodrigues’ 321 passing yards and three touchdowns. Liatama Amisone had 163 yards from scrimmage and four touchdowns, while Nikko Smith had 143 receiving yards and a TD. Kapolei will try to end their losing streak against Mililani on Nov. 9.
8. Farrington
The Governors ended their five-game losing streak by defeating Waipahu on Oct. 18. Chansen Smith threw four touchdowns and rushed for another one. After finishing a 4-5 record, they will wait for their fate regarding the Hawaii high school football state tournament.
9. Konawaena
The Wildcats earned their eighth consecutive victory by shutting down Keeau 36-0. It’s the sixth time Konawaena has kept their opponent off the scoreboard throughout the streak. Against the Cougars, Keenan Alani threw for three touchdowns, while Austin Takaki had 100 receiving yards and a touchdown. On defense, Elias Malapit had two sacks and one fumble recovery.
10. Leilehua
The Mules are on a seven-game winning streak heading into the state tournament, improving their overall record to 8-3. Bennett Strobel threw for two touchdowns, while Cameron Keeve had a rushing touchdown. Leilehua can extend their winning streak against Kailua on Nov. 9.
