Another week of high school football has come to a close across the country, and the national top-25 rankings are now updated.

Mater Dei holds steady at No. 1 after beating St. John Bosco in the national game of the year. Houston North Shore sees a big jump to No. 3 after upsetting Atascocita on the road.

1. Mater Dei (Calif.)

Previous Rank: No. 1

The nation’s preseason No. 1 team hasn’t budged from the top spot, now 8-0 after defeating St. John Bosco 59-14 in arguably the country’s biggest high school football game of the season. The Monarchs will close out the regular season this weekend with a home game against No. 20 Orange Lutheran.

2. Duncanville (Texas)

Previous Rank: No. 2

Duncanville handled rival DeSoto 42-20 three weeks ago and has followed that win up with a pair of easy wins against Lancaster and Horn. The Panthers are big favorites in both of their remaining regular season games against Mesquite and Cedar Hill.

3. Houston North Shore (Texas)

Previous Rank: No. 7

North Shore went on the road to Atascocita last weekend as a slight underdog but came away with the 27-23 upset win to remain undefeated and jump four spots in the national top 25. The Mustangs will face C.E. King this weekend before closing with a huge showdown with No. 24 Summer Creek.

4. St. John Bosco (Calif.)

Previous Rank: No. 3

Top-ranked Mater Dei was too much to handle for St. John Bosco on Friday as the Braves fell 59=14 to the Monarchs, John Bosco’s first loss of the 2024 campaign. The Braves will look to bounce back this Friday against J Serra Catholic.

5. Southlake Carroll (Texas)

Previous Rank: No. 5

Southlake Carroll has cruised through the 2024 season with an undefeated record and has played just one Texas top-25 team (Trinity). The Dragons defeated Bell 73-7 over the weekend and are once again big favorites this Friday against Keller Central.

6. North Crowley (Texas)

Previous Rank: No. 6

North Crowley blew out Boswell 67-0 to improve to 8-0 on the year ahead of its final two games against Mansfield and Crowley. The Panthers got off to a hot start this season by beating No. 9 DeSoto (Texas) 57-51 in week two before beating Guyer (Texas) the following week.

7. Bishop Gorman (Nev.)

Previous Rank: No. 8

Bishop Gorman has won its last two games by a combined 124-0, most recently beating Desert Pines (Nev.) 61-0 last Thursday. The Gaels have just one regular season contest remaining. They will travel to Nevada’s No. 5 team, Coronado, this Friday. As big favorites, Gorman will look to cap off a 9-1 regular season highlighted by wins against Kahuku (Hawaii), St. Thomas Aquinas (Fla.) and No. 20 Orange Lutheran (Calif.).

8. Atascocita (Texas)

Previous Rank: No. 4

Atascocita tumbled out of the national top 5 after dropping its first game of the season, 27-23 to Houston North Shore. Wins against No. 18 Westlake and No. 24 Summer Creek stand out on the schedule, and the Eagles will end the year heavily favored against Channelview and Goose Creek Memorial.

9. DeSoto (Texas)

Previous Rank: No. 9

DeSoto is 6-2 this season with losses to No. 6 North Crowley and No. 2 Duncanville. The Eagles have bounced back from that Duncanville loss with a 50-24 win against Horn and most recently a 63-24 victory over Cedar Hill. DeSoto will play Dallas Skyline this week before facing Lancaster to end the year.

10. Bixby (Okla.)

Previous Rank: No. 13

Bixby lost 40-21 to No. 16 Owasso in the first game of the season, but the Spartans haven’t looked back since. They have rattled off seven consecutive wins against some of the best teams in the state of Oklahoma. Bixby hammered Mustang — Oklahoma’s No. 16 team — this past Friday and has two remaining regular season games against Deer Creek and Norman.
