Homewoood-Flossmoor hires two-time Illinois state champion Troy McAllister as head coach
Homewood-Flossmoor Community High School announced the hiring of Troy McAllister as head football coach and Physical Education teacher. He will replace Terrell Alexander, who coached the Vikings for the last four seasons. In addition to those roles, McAllister will also work as the school’s Health and Driver Education teacher.
McAllister brings an impressive resume as he takes over the Vikings starting in the 2025-26 Illinois high school football season. He has a 113-48 coaching record, two state championships (2015 and 2017), and a state runner-up finish in 2014. Likewise, he won the 2018 Gatorade Coaching Excellence Award and the 2020 MaxPreps Illinois Top High School Football Coach.
Troy McAllister’s head coaching career started at Dunbar Career Academy High School. However, it was at Wendell Phillips Academy High School wherein he enjoyed much success. McAllister led the Wildcats to a 94-28 record and won two state titles. Those championships make Phillips the only program under Chicago Public Schools to win state. In addition to those championships, he had 23 players who competed in NCAA Division I football.
Before transferring to Homewood-Flossmoor, McAllister coached Carl Sandburg High School. He turned the Eagles into an offensive juggernaut, setting passing records in 2023 and 2024. Sandburg also made three state postseason appearances in the last four years.
