Hoophall Classic: No. 19 Paul VI Catholic (Va.) downs No. 8 St. John Bosco (Calif.)
Paul VI Catholic (Va.) continues to build one of the best résumés in the nation. On Saturday afternoon, the No. 19 Panthers outlasted No. 8 St. John Bosco (Calif.) for a 60-57 win at the Hoophall Classic in Springfield, Mass.
Once again it was junior five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr. leading the way for the Fairfax program. He shot 7-14 from the field, pouring in 19 points to go with six rebounds, five assists, three steals and a block.
Senior power forward Jaquan Womack had 10 points and seven rebounds. PVI had 17 second-chance points and shot 45 percent from the field overall.

Bosco cut a 15-point halftime deficit down to one possession and had a chance to tie things up at the buzzer. The Braves had four in double figures, led by senior guard Chris Komin, who finished with 16. Junior Five-Star Plus+ small forward Christian Collins managed a 12-point, 11-rebound double-double.
The Braves cashed in on eight 3-point attempts, but lost the rebound battle 38-29.
With the win, Paul VI Catholic, the No. 1 team in Virginia per the On3 Composite Rankings, is now 13-2 on the season. The loss brings St. John Bosco, California’s No. 3 team, to 17-3 overall.
