Hudson High School (Ma.) named an Army National Guard The Next Greatest Generation Team of the Year

The Hudson (Ma.) High School football team has been recognized as an Army National Guard Next Greatest Generation Team of the Year, honoring the program’s excellence on and off the field in 2024.
While the Hawks went undefeated last season, going 12-0, claiming a state championship, they also rallied around each other and the community throughout the year.
Four Hudson players visited then 12-year-old Dominic Matos in the hospital after he was involved in a hit-and-run bike crash on Route 20 late last summer, showing their genuine care and support.
During the fall, the Hawks showed support to Sean Mahoney, the head coach of rival opponent Marlborough High. When Mahoney was unable to coach against Hudson on Thanksgiving due to health concerns, the Hawks dawned ‘SM’ stickers on their helmet.
Hudson also had to come together earlier in the season following a season-ending injury to team captain Logan Luz. Luz, who wore No. 6 for the Hawks, tore his ACL in the third week of the campaign. With him on the sidelines, fellow Hudson captains united by rotating the wear of his number for the rest of the season.

Hudson head coach Zac Attaway, who has continued to instill the “it’s bigger than football” belief in his team since taking over the program two years ago, is proud of the culture that his team continues to build.
This prestigious award shows what we have built here at Hudson High ; on field success and a strong program culture,” Attaway said. “On3 and the Army National Guard selecting us as one of 10 recipients nation wide, brings a sense of pride to our program and the community. Being recognized by On3 and the Army National Guard motivates us to continue to set the bar high for Hudson’s next generation of student-athletes.”
On the field, Hudson was a defensive juggernaut in 2024. En route to a 12-0 season, the Hawks defense allowed an average of 13.7 points per game. Teams eclipsed 14 points just twice during the season.
There was also plenty of offense for the Hawks, as they averaged 41 points per game. They finished as the No. 17 team in Massachusetts, according to the On3 Composite Rankings.
