1. DePaul College Prep
DePaul College Prep has remained as the state’s team for much of the season, and the Rams carry a 26-4 record into Wednesday’s contest against North Chicago. They’re coming off a disappointing 64-51 loss to Benet Academy over the weekend and will be looking to get things back on track.
2. Kenwood
The Broncos are not only one of the state’s best teams, but they’re a top-50 team nationally as well that hasn’t lost since December 28. Kenwood beat crosstown rival Curie in a huge matchup over the weekend and now faces Juarez in the IHSA Regional Semi-Final on Wednesday night.
3. Quincy
Following a tight 58-53 loss to Rock Island, Quincy now sits at 27-3 on the season ahead of tournament time. Their playoff journey begins Wednesday against 9-21 O’Fallon in the regional semis.
4. Homewood-Flossmoor
Now 27-3 on the season, Homewood-Flossmoor won 13 games in a row prior to a 6-point loss to Hillcrest on Feb. 15. They defeated Andrew 79-36 last time out and will now face Shepard as postseason play begins.
5. Hinsdale Central
Before their 58-55 defeat at the hands of Lyons, the Red Devils had won 24 consecutive, steamrolling the majority of their competition. They now sit at 28-3 on the year.
6. Waubonsie Valley
Waubonsie Valley has been dominant all season, allowing 60 points just once. But after falling to DeKalb over the weekend, they’ve got an extra chip on their shoulder heading into postseason play.
7. Bolingbrook
After suffering a tight loss to Saint Louis Vashon, one of the top teams in Missouri, Bolingbrook has responded with a pair of wins and is now 27-4 this season. The Raiders rattled off a 12-game winning streak earlier this season and posses one of the state’s top defenses heading into the postseason.
