1. DePaul College Prep
The No. 1 team in the state currently resides in Chicago, as DePaul College Prep is now 15-1 on the season following an 8-point win over Warren Township last weekend. The Rams have already won their fair share of two-possession games while also racking up a few blowouts. Kenwood Academy is the lone team to beat DePaul, the nation’s No. 40 team, thus far.
2. Bolingbrook
Bolingbrook rang in the new year with a Jack Tosh Holiday Classic Championship and is now 13-2 on the season. The Raiders have already eclipsed 70 points six times, cruising past in-state competition. They return to action on Jan. 10 at Romeoville.
3. Homewood-Flossmoor
Sitting at 13-2 on the season, Homewood-Flossmoor checks in just outside the top 100 nationally. Last time out, the Vikings crushed Carl Sandburg High 91-31, establishing its offense as one of, if not the best in the state. A trip to Lincoln-Way East is up next this Friday.
4. Kenwood Academy
Before losing to Olympia Fields Rich Central Campus 87-83 at the end of December, Kenwood Academy had won its first 12 games of the season. Now 15-1, the Broncos out of Chicago own the sole win over No. 1 DePaul College Prep. Leading the way for Kenwood is star senior four-star small forward Aleks Alston and sophomore four-star shooting guard Devin Cleveland.
5. Brother Rice
Over in Oak Lawn, Brother Rice is now 13-1 this season. The biggest win of the year thus far came on Dec. 21 as the Crusaders took down No. 2 Bolingbrook 72-71. They also won their first 12 games of the year and won’t play a team over .500 until Jan. 17, when they host St. Ignatius.
6. Quincy
Quincy suffered its first loss of the season last time out, falling 59-56 to Vashon, the No. 2 team out of Missouri. The Blue Devils began the year 12-0, too, rolling through a mediocre schedule. A Jan. 14 matchup at Moline will be the next big test for the national top-200 program.
7. Waubonsie Valley
Waubonsie Valley remains undefeated at 13-0 behind senior combo guard Tyreek Coleman. The Warriors out of Aurora have boasted one of the state’s top defenses, allowing more than 50 points just once so far. They’ll head to Rockford to play Jefferson on Jan. 18.

8. Evanston Township
Ahead of a home matchup against Maine South this weekend, Evanston Township is 12-2 on the year and a clear top-10 team in the state thus far. The Wildkits have scored 70 or more points seven times, thrashing a slew of in-state defenses. On Saturday, Evanston takes on No. 14 Rolling Meadows.
9. Benet Academy
Benet Academy is now 14-2 on the season following a 62-43 win over Schaumburg last weekend. The Redwings have won by 15 points or more eight times already this campaign. A Feb. 1 clash against No. 8 Evanston Township will be one to watch later this winter.
10. Curie Metropolitan
Now sitting at 9-4 on the year, Chicago Curie Metropolitan rounds out the top 10. Losses to No. 1 DePaul College Prep and Chicago Simeon soured the end of 2024, but the Condors will look to build another winning streak this weekend, as they take on Salesian College Prep, a top-15 program in California.
