Only 16 teams remain in contention for the 2025 Illinois high school boys basketball Class 2A state championship. The ‘Super Sixteen’ includes Carterville, Tolono (Unity), Chicago (Christ the King), and Marengo Sectionals finalists.

Sectional finalists from Chicago (Simeon), Peotone, Greenville, and Sherrard completed the competitor’s field for the state title. The Illinois Class 2A Super Sixteen starts on March 7 and the knockout format tournament will continue until the state championship game on March 15 at the University of Illinois’ State Farm Center.

Leading this group of competitors is Althoff Catholic, ranked 46th in the Illinois On3 Composite Team Rankings. Meanwhile, Dyett is 79th while Williamsville is 94th in the rankings.
