The Illinois high school football rankings have updated as October continues to roll along.
East St. Louis, Chicago Mount Carmel and Lyons each picked up ranked wins in what was an exciting slate of Friday night games.
The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

Below is the updated Illinois On3 Massey Ratings top 25, as of Oct. 21.
1. East St. Louis
East St. Louis remained undefeated and No. 1 in Illinois with a 14-7 win against No. 24 Edwardsville last Friday. Now, the Flyers must get ready for perhaps their toughest test of the season as they take on nationally-ranked IMG Academy this week.
2. Lincoln-Way East
Lincoln-Way East improved to 7-0 this season with a 49-20 win against Victor J. Andrew over the weekend. The Griffons have notable wins this year against No. 25 Maine South and No. 21 Naperville North, with another test up next this week in No. 11 Naperville Central.
3. Chicago Mount Carmel
Mount Carmel has now defeated a ranked team in consecutive weeks after getting upset by Brother Rice on Oct. 4. The Caravan bounced back with a win against No. 19 Joliet Catholic and then continued that momentum this past Friday with a 35-10 win over Fenwick. A huge showdown with No. 4 Loyola Academy is on deck.
4. Loyola Academy
As we mentioned above, Loyola will take part in one of the biggest games in Illinois this week when the Ramblers travel to No. 3 Chicago Mount Carmel. Loyola is fresh off of a 34-16 win against Carmel Catholic that moved the Ramblers to 6-2 on the season.
5. Lyons
Lyons went into York Comm an underdog last Friday despite its higher ranking in the Illinois On3 Masey Ratings. The Lions removed all doubt in their top-5 status, however, with a 24-7 win over the Dukes. This week, Lyons is a huge favorite at home against Proviso East.
6. Cary-Grove
Cary-Grove remained undefeated with a 50-7 blowout win over Crystal Lake South last Friday. The Trojans do not currently have a win against a ranked opponent, and will not get the chance to do so in the regular season as they face Dundee-Crown this Friday.
7. Batavia
Batavia is 7-1 this season, its only loss coming to No. 9 Geneva Community earlier this month. Since then, the Bulldogs have collected wins against St. Charles East and Wheaton Warrenville South. They will look to improve to 8-1 this week against Glenbard North.

8. Marist
A 42-0 win over Marmion Academy moved Marist to 7-1 on the season. The RedHawks have a win over No. 14 Brother Rice and a one-point loss to No. 19 Joliet Catholic. Marist is a huge home favorite this Friday against Notre Dame College Prep.
9. Geneva Community (+1)
Geneva is still undefeated after hammering St. Charles East 49-14. The Vikings will close out the regular season with No. 18 St. Charles North at home. Wins against No. 7 Batavia and Wheaton North highlight their resume.
10. Nazareth Academy (+1)
A 62-14 blowout win over Benet Academy propelled the Roadrunners into the Illinois top 10 this week ahead of their clash with St. Francis. After a lone loss to No. 3 Chicago Mount Carmel, Nazareth collected a pair of ranked wins against Joliet Catholic and St. Rita.
