Indiana High School Basketball Preseason Rankings: Top 25 Teams

The 2024 high school basketball season is about ready to get underway, and the state of Indiana will once again feature some of the best teams in the country.

Fishers will look to defend its Class 4A state championship as the preseason No. 1 team in the Hoosier State.

Below are the top 25 teams in the state of Indiana entering the 2024-25 basketball season, as of Nov. 19, per the On3 Massey Ratings.

The On3 Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

1. Fishers

Fresh off of a 29-1 season and a Class 4A championship win over Ben Davis, Fishers enters the 2024 season the top team in the Hoosier State. Sophomore point guard Jason Gardner Jr. is one of the top prospects in the 2027 class. The Tigers will look to defend their title in their season-opening title game rematch against Ben Davis on Nov. 26.

2. Lawrence North

Lawrence North fell to Jeffersonville in the state quarterfinals last season, but the Wildcats are once again looking to be one of the best teams in the state of Indiana. Senior point guard Azavier Robinson is a top-100 prospect in the class of 2025 and the No. 5 player in the state.

3. Ben Davis

After a 23-6 record and a 4A state title game loss to Fishers in the 2023-24 season, Ben Davis will look for a bit of revenge in its season opener against the Tigers. The Giants are the No. 64 team in America according to the On3 Massey Ratings.

4. Cathedral

Indianapolis Cathedral will open play on Nov. 27 against No. 10 Warren Central in what should be one of the Hoosier State’s best games of the season. Cathedral knocked Warren Central out of the 2023-24 postseason. Last year, the Fighting Irish finished with a 19-6 record and a loss to Lawrence North in the regional final. Senior power forward Brady Koehler is a top-100 prospect and committed to Notre Dame.

5. Noblesville

Twenty-two wins a year ago took the Noblesville Millers to the regional finals, losing by two points to Fishers. A home game against Hamilton Heights will open the 2024-25 season on Nov. 27. In last year’s matchup between the two, Noblesville won 65-35.

6. La Lumiere School

Coming off of a 22-5 record last season, the 2024 edition of La Lumiere features several Division I commits. The senior class for the Lakers includes five-star Notre Dame signee Jalen Haralson, elite UConn signee Darius Adams, Loyola (Chicago) signee Chuck Love Jr., San Jose State commit Melvin Bell and Belmont pledge Jack Smiley.

7. Carmel

Carmel finished 12-11 last season and lost in the first round to eventual state champion Fishers, but the Greyhounds are looking to have one of the best teams in the state this year. They opened up with Zionsville last year and will do so again. Zionsville took the previous matchup 57-40.

8. Westfield

Westfield made it to the regional semifinals last year with a 19-3 record before falling to Noblesville. The Shamrocks will start this season on Nov. 30 against Frankfort. Westfield ranks just No. 21 in the state on offense but comes into the year with the No. 3 defense in the Hoosier State.

9. Brownsburg

The alma mater of future NBA All-Star Gordon Hayward, Brownsburg will look to improve upon a 14-12 record and regional semifinal loss to Terre Haute North Vigo. The Bulldogs will open on Nov. 26 against North Central, who they beat 52-48 a year ago.

10. Warren Central

With a 14-11 record, Warren Central made it to the regional semifinals last season before falling to Indianapolis Cathedral. The Warriors are perfectly balanced, according to the On3 Massey Ratings, with the No. 14 offense and No. 14 defense in Indiana.
