With the third week of the 2024 Indiana high school football season drawing to a close, the top teams retained their spots in the Indiana On3 Massey Ratings Top 25 as of September 9. However, there are some changes in the bottom of the ranking.

The On3 Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory. According to the model, three teams from Indiana rank among the top 100 nationwide.

1. Brownsburg

Previous: No. 1
The Bulldogs have surrendered only 27 points while scoring 115 in their first three games. Their latest victory was a 40-0 shutout of Franklin Central. Brownsburg’s early-season results give them the best offense and defense in the state.

2. Westfield

Previous: No. 2
The Shamrocks are high on this list because they’ve defeated three teams in the top 20. After edging Center Grove by six points and Carmel by four, they finally had a convincing 28-10 win over Zionsville. Westfield is racking up victories despite having the fifth-toughest strength of schedule in the 2024 Indiana high school football season.

3. Hamilton Southeastern

Previous: No. 3
Make it three wins in as many games for the Royals after a 28-10 result against Avon. After averaging 47 points per game in their victories over Carroll and North Central, scoring fewer points didn’t change the result for Hamilton Southeastern.

4. Center Grove

Previous: No. 4
The Trojans bounced back from their season-opening defeat to Westfield by scoring back-to-back victories over Carroll and Trinity. While they are fourth on this list, Center Grove ranks second in offense and defense.

5. Cathedral

Previous: No. 5
Tough luck plagues the Fighting Irish’s fate as they follow their Week 1 victory against Ben Davis with defeats against top-ranked Brownsburg and St. Xavier. Despite those losses, they remain in the middle of the top ten because of their grueling strength of schedule.

6. Lawrence North

Previous: No. 6
The Wildcats remain undefeated in the 2024 Indiana high school football season after a 34-13 victory over North Side. A week before, they achieved the same result (33-26) versus Lawrence Central. Lawrence North should easily defeat North Central and Arsenal Technical before competing with Ben Davis.

7. Warren Central

Previous: No. 7
The Warriors haven’t surrendered a point to their first three opponents (R Nelson Snider, Warsaw Community, North Central). They scored 15, 34, and 30 points against those opponents, respectively. Those results put Warren Central as the fifth-best defense in Indiana.

8. Ben Davis

Previous: No. 8
The Giants are finally in the win column after a 38-14 victory over Pike. That result stops their skid after losing to Cathedral (24-6) and Avon (29-28). Facing Center Grove in Week 4 presents a formidable challenge for Ben Davis.

9. Carmel

Previous: No. 9
The Greyhounds held their ground against second-ranked Westfield before embracing a four-point defeat. More importantly, they got their second win this season by dominating Centerville 44-23. Carmel ranks tenth on offense and eighth on defense.

10. Bishop Chatard

Previous: No. 10
In their last game, the two-time defending Class 3A Indiana High School Football champions scored only nine points against Roncalli. However, it was enough to keep them undefeated because they limited the Royals to three points. Bishop Chatard also earned wins over Brebeuf Jesuit (58-35) and Hanover Central School (28-7) to start the season.
