Kansas High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - Oct. 22

The Kansas On3 Massey Ratings top 25 list as of Oct. 22 showed little movement compared to last week’s rankings. However, Kansas high school football’s top team reached the top 100 nationwide. Here’s how the state’s best squads fared as the playoff tournament drew near.
The On3 Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.

1. St. Thomas Aquinas
The Saints have had their prayers answered all season long, leading to an undefeated run after seven games. While they’ve had some one-possession victories, they’ve also dominated some opponents, including Blue Valley Northwest. St. Thomas Aquinas finished with 402 rushing yards against the Huskies, led by Calin Arndt’s 138 yards on the ground and two touchdowns. The Saints will try to improve their record to 8-0 against Blue Valley North on the 25th.
2. Mill Valley
The Jaguars are on a five-game winning streak after scoring a season-high 54 points against Shawnee Mission West. What’s more impressive is that the Mill Valley defense shut down the Vikings. Kansas high school football’s top offensive team got contributions from Reggie Reece, who finished with 132 rushing yards and three touchdowns. Meanwhile, Andrew Watts had 96 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Kansas high school football’s top offensive team will aim for a 7-1 record when they host Olathe East on Oct. 25.
3. Gardner Edgerton
After a close defeat against Mill Valley, the Trailblazers are back on the winning track after a 50-7 domination of Olathe Northwest. It’s the lowest points they’ve allowed this season, beating the 14 points they’ve given to Shawnee Mission East. Syre Padilla had 114 rushing yards and a touchdown, while Porter Swaim had 58 yards and a receiving TD. Gardner Edgerton can improve to 7-1 by defeating Olathe West on the 25th.
4. Derby
The Panthers extended their winning streak to seven games after a 51-7 demolition of Maize South. Drew Kemp had 134 passing yards and three touchdowns, with 89 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Arieus Finley torched the Mavericks with 163 rushing yards on two touchdowns, while Da’saahn Brame had two catching scores. An 8-0 record is within reach if they defeat Bishop Carroll on Oct. 25.
5. Manhattan
The Indians remain perfect after scoring their third shutout victory of the season. In addition to keeping Topeka off the scoreboard, Manhattan tallied 52 points, led by Jaydin Hudley’s 86 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Kha’mario Davis added two more rushing touchdowns, while Hudley added a receiving touchdown. The team with the fourth-best offense in Kansas high school football can improve to 8-0 by defeating Washburn Rural on the 25th.
6. Blue Valley West
The Jaguars extended their winning streak to six games after edging Blue Valley 35-34. Blue Valley West scored 21 fourth-quarter points to improve their record to 6-1. Their running game worked, as Jack Cook, Wayne Carter, Tate Nagy, and Tate Miller scored touchdowns. The Jaguars also got nine tackles for losses and three sacks from their defense. Blue Valley West can maintain its winning streak by defeating St. James Academy on Oct. 25.

7. Blue Valley
Despite the Tigers’ one-point loss to Blue Valley West, there are still some commendable performances from their players. Jackson Hopper had six catches for 153 yards and three touchdowns, while Charlie Stachowiak had 86 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown. After dropping to a 5-2 record, Blue Valley can bounce back with a victory over Bishop Miege this week.
8. Andale
In addition to their seventh consecutive victory, the Jaguars have completed back-to-back shutout victories against Smoky Valley and Trinity Academy. Andale has been excellent on both sides of the ball throughout the 2024 Kansas high school football season. They’ve never scored below 47 points in a game and limited six opponents to single digits. The Jaguars can improve to 8-0 with a road victory over Hesston this week.
9. Northwest
The Grizzlies improve to 6-1 by scoring a season-high 62 points against the South Titans. Jaylen Mason had 161 passing yards and three touchdowns, while Augie Fast ran wild with 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, Griffin Baker paced the passing attack with 76 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Northwest faces Eisenhower on Oct. 25 for a shot at a 7-1 record.
10. Blue Valley Northwest
The Huskies close out the top ten despite absorbing their third consecutive loss. Blue Valley Northwest scored only 14 points in their defeat against top-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas, courtesy of touchdown passes by Ford Bevins and Aidan Ihm. The Huskies can end their losing streak versus Blue Valley Southwest on Oct. 25.
