In what would be their final act in high school basketball, Kiyan Anthony and Aaliyah Chavez claimed glory in the recent Jordan Brand Classic. Anthony, a Syracuse commit from Long Island Lutheran, became the boys game MVP after finishing with 26 points and five rebounds. Meanwhile, Chavez finished with 24 points, five rebounds, and five steals to win the girls’ game MVP.

As soon as the opening tipoff, Kiyan Anthony made history because he and his father, Carmelo Anthony, became the first father and son tandem to play at the Jordan Brand Classic. The 34th-ranked prospect in the Class of 2025 On3 Industry Ratings led Team Air to a 141-124 victory over Team Flight. While Team Flight had a 70-51 halftime lead, Anthony and Team Air scored 90 second-half points to claim victory.

In addition to Anthony scoring 26 points, UNC-bound Caleb Wilson missed only one of 14 field goal attempts to finish with 28 points. Tounde Yessoufou added 19 points while Jamier Jones added 12 in Team Air’s victory at the CareFirst Arena in Washington, D.C.

Conversely, BYU-bound AJ Dybantsa led Team Flight with 25 points, nine rebounds, and three assists. Darius Acuff scored 22 points and had three steals, while Meleek Thomas finished with 16 points, four assists, and two steals.

Meanwhile, in the Jordan Brand Classic girls basketball game, Chavez led Team Flight to a 126-108 victory over Team Air, pulling away via a 42-30 fourth-quarter advantage. She got help from McDonald’s All-American Game MVP Sienna Betts, who contributed 22 points and six rebounds. Jasmine Davidson added 19 points, while Addison Deal finished with 10 points.

Nyla Brooks led Team Air with 28 points, 10 rebounds, and two steals. Kelis Fisher also had a strong showing with 23 points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals. Hailee Swain had 18 points in the Jordan Brand Classic while Zhen Craft collected ten points.

The Jordan Brand Classic MVP adds another accolade to Chavez’s growing trophy collection. In addition to becoming the Gatorade National Player of the Year, she’s also the Naismith Girls High School Player of the Year. She also led the Monterrey Plainsmen to a state championship and finished her high school basketball career with over 5,000 points.
