Louisiana High School Football Ranking: Top 25 teams – Sept. 24
After three full weeks of Louisiana high school football, the Ruston Bearcats remain the No. 1 team in the state, according to the On3 Massey Ratings. But a host of teams are biting at their heels, including one-loss Acadiana, undefeated Archbishop Rummel and a talented Baton Rouge Catholic squad.
And with six matchups featuring a pair of top-25 teams this weekend on tap, there are sure to be some rankings changes before next week’s come out.
Heading into Week 5, here are the top 25 teams in the Boot:
The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

Top 10 in latest Louisiana High School football rankings
1. Ruston (3-0)
The Bearcats beat a previously top-25 Longview (Texas) squad over the weekend to move to 3-0, with other wins over Arkansas top-15 team Cabot and Louisiana No. 2 Acadiana. Up next they’ll host Texas’ Midland Legacy on Saturday night.
2. Acadiana (2-1)
After falling to Ruston in the season opener, the Rams have reeled off consecutive wins over No. 5 Zachary and No. 11 St. Thomas More. They’ll welcome undefeated New Iberia to town on Thursday.
3. Archbishop Rummel (3-0)
Rummel is off to a 3-0 start behind an offense that has scored 35-plus points in two of its first three games. A top-10 showdown with John Curtis looms on Friday night.
4. Catholic (2-1)
The Bears suffered their first loss of the season Friday to Baton Rouge University Lab, but will look to get back on track against No. 14 West Monroe this week.
5. Zachary (3-1)
Zachary sits at 3-1 after a close 34-33 win over Carencro last weekend. They’ll be idle this week before facing No. 24 Opelousas on October 4.
6. Brother Martin (4-0)
The Crusaders are off to a 4-0 start following their 31-28 win over St. Pauls School, and will travel to face No. 23 Jesuit on Friday night.
7. Alexandria (3-0)
Fresh off a 45-27 victory over Destrehan, the Trojans get another tough one this week on the road at Opelousas.

8. Neville (3-0)
Undefeated Neville knock off Mississippi’s Holmes Country Central over the weekend 34-33, but the Tigers will have their toughest test to date on Friday against No. 11 St. Thomas More.
9. Central (4-0)
The Wildcats sit inside the top 10 after a 4-0 start that includes a 42-16 bludgeoning of Walker last weekend. They’ll host Cecilia on Friday night before a top-25 battle against Lafayette Christian in two weeks.
10. John Curtis (2-1)
Following their bye last weekend, the Patriots are on the road for one of their hardest games of the season at No. 3 Archbishop Rummel.
