Country music star Luke Bryan wishes alma mater Lee County luck ahead of Georgia 5A state semifinals

The Georgia High School Association (GHSA) state playoff semifinals across all classifications will kickoff on Friday night. One of top games in the state is at the 5A level, as Lee County and Milton will square off for a spot in the state championship.

Both teams are undefeated at 13-0 and sit at or near the top of the On3 Composite state rankings. On Thursday morning, country music singer Luke Bryan sent out a video wishing Lee County, his alma mater, luck as they look to pick up another monumental win on the road.

“What’s up Lee County Trojans, it’s Luke here, just wishing y’all the best, go beat Milton. Go Trojans,” Bryan said in the video.

Bryan hails from Leesburg, Ga. and graduated from Lee County in 1996. The country star and “American Idol” judge has frequently referenced and paid homage to his hometown throughout his career. Bryan played baseball for Lee County and graduated from Georgia Southern University.

Friday night’s matchup is a classic ‘unstoppable force versus immoveable object’ bout. Lee County boasts the state’s No. 1 offense, while Milton counters with the state’s No. 2 defense, according to the On3 Massey Ratings.

The Trojans are averaging a whopping 55.1 points per game and have scored over 60 points in four of their last six games. Florida State four-star running back signee Ousmane Kromah has terrorized opposing defenses all season. The Eagles are allowing just 7.8 points per game and have allowed just 24 total points across their last three games.

Milton also counters with a top-10 offense, spearheaded by Miami four-star quarterback signee Luke Nickel. The future Hurricane has an array of weapons to throw to, headlined by Georgia four-star wide receiver signee CJ Wiley and Georgia four-star tight end signee Ethan Barbour. Lee County’s defense ranks No. 14 in the state.
