Marion Local wins Ohio state title game 74-0, continues historic win streak

Maria Stein (Ohio) Marion Local football continues to dominate its competition in the Buckeye State.
The Flyers claimed their 15th Division VII state title on Friday, rolling over Jeromesville Hillsdale in the championship 74-0 at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton. Not only is the final score eye-popping, but it also continues a historic winning streak for the school.
Marion Local has now won 64 consecutive games, having not lost since 2020. It now holds one of the 20 longest winning streaks in high school football history and the longest-ever streak in Ohio, according to Martin RPI:
The group of seniors on the 2024 Flyers have now concluded a perfect high school career, going 64-0 and hoisting up four state championships. Across the last four seasons, Marion has allowed an average of 4.3 points per game, shutting teams out 34 times. This season alone saw Marion outscore opponents 763-49.

Since 2000, Marion Local has appeared in 18 state title games and has won 15 times. The 74 points scored on Friday set an Ohio Division VII state record.
Marion is the No. 9 team overall in the state of Ohio, according to the On3 Composite Rankings — a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. According to the On3 Massey Ratings, the Flyers are the only team in the state to boast a top-five offensive and defensive rating.
This season, the Marion offense was held to under 30 points just twice. It eclipsed 50 points on five on six occasions. the Flyers’ defense allowed double-digit points in a game just once all year. In 16 games, only six times were the opposing team able to put points on the board.
