Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford gave back to the community after signing a restructured contract extension. Together with his wife, Kelly, he visited a gathering attended by Pasadena High School football players, their coaches, and their parents.

“I just wanted to stop by. My wife, Kelly, is here with me today, too. I know it’s been a tough go of it lately. We were all kind of living here through all the fires and all the tough stuff about a month back. It’s hitting close to home for my family, and I know, it hit especially close to home for you guys. I just wanted to make sure you guys are suited and booted next year. We got all new uniforms for you guys,” Stafford said to the Pasadena High School football community.

Pasadena suffered the devastating effects of the massive wildfires that engulfed California last January. JPMorgan estimated that the insured losses from the catastrophe exceeded $20 billion. The widespread wildfires prompted the assistance from Canada, Mexico, Iran, Ukraine, and Japan.

Despite their struggles, the team that Matthew Stafford helped won six of their last eight games. However, they lost to Monte Vista in the CIF Division 6-A Regional Finals, ending their season at 8-7.

The two-time Pro Bowler called Los Angeles home after the Detroit Lions traded him to the Rams in January 2021. He guided the NFC West squad to victory in Super Bowl LVI over the Cincinnati Bengals. The former Georgia standout signed a four-year, $160 million contract extension with the Rams the following year.

Despite rumors of his departure, Matthew Stafford extended his tenure with the Rams on a restructured contract. Once again, he gets to navigate the offense of a team that nearly defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in last season’s Divisional Round.
