The latest Michigan High School Football Rankings have been released following Week 7 of action. There were some surprising results this week, which led to plenty of movement in the top 25.
The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college and high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.
Here is a breakdown of the updated top 25 Michigan high school football rankings as of Oct. 14, 2024:
1. Detroit Catholic Central
Previous Ranking: 1
Detroit Catholic Central is still ranked No. 1 after beating St. John’s Jesuit 37-3 on Friday. The Shamrocks jumped out to a big lead in the first half and cruised to the victory. Detroit Catholic Central improved to 7-0 with the win, while St. John’s Jesuit is still winless on the year. The Shamrocks have now maintained their top spot in the Michigan High School Football rankings for several weeks in a row.
2. Belleville
Previous Ranking: 2
The Tigers are ranked No. 2 for the second straight week after pounding Wayne Memorial 41-0 this past Friday. As expected, it was an easy win for Belleville against a Wayne Memorial team that has yet to win a game this year. The Tigers have now won six straight games by at least 27 points. They will look to continue that streak on Friday against a solid Fordson squad.
3. Dewitt
Previous Ranking: 5
The Panthers moved up two more spots in the Michigan High School Football rankings and are now ranked No. 3 after beating Grand Ledge 42-0 on Friday. The Comets entered with a 4-2 record but were no match for the unbeaten Dewitt squad. After opening the season unranked, Dewitt has moved up week after week and is now all the way up to No. 3.
4. Mona Shores
Previous Ranking: 3
The Sailors dropped one spot in the rankings, despite pounding Union 48-0 over the weekend. The Sailors were expected to roll against an overmatched Union team and they certainly did, improving to 7-0 in the process. As for Union, the Red Hawks dropped to 0-7 with the loss.
5. De La Salle Collegiate
Previous Ranking: 4
The Pilots are still the highest-ranked team with a loss in the Michigan High School Football Rankings, but they did drop another spot after beating Brother Rice 42-21 on Friday. De La Salle Collegiate improved to 4-2 with the victory and also ended a two-game losing streak.
