Michigan High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - October 21
Week 8 of Michigan High School Football action is in the books. The top 25 rankings have been updated accordingly following an entertaining week of games.
The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college and high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.
Here is a breakdown of the updated top 25 Michigan high school football rankings as of Oct. 21, 2024:
1. Detroit Catholic Central
Previous Ranking: 1
The Shamrocks are still ranked No. 1 after pounding Grand Ledge 55-0 to stay unbeaten on the year. Detroit Catholic Central built a 34-0 halftime lead and cruised to the victory to move to 8-0 on the season. Up next, Detroit Catholic Central will face Martin Luther King High on the road.
2. Belleville
Previous Ranking: 2
The Tigers are still ranked No. 2 after crushing Fordson 31-0. Belleville has one of the best defenses in all of Michigan High School football and has now recorded back-to-back shutouts. The Tigers also have an excellent offense, too, led by the On3’s No. 1 overall recruit in the class of 2025 in LSU QB commit Bryce Underwood.
3. Mona Shores

The Sailors moved up one spot in the rankings after topping Reeths-Puffer 40-0. Mona Shores has also pitched back-to-back shutouts and has outscored its opponents 88-0 over the past two weeks.
4. De La Salle Collegiate
Previous Ranking: 5
De La Salle Collegiate moved up one spot in the Michigan High School Football rankings after earning a 49-14 win over St. John’s Jesuit. The Pilots are 5-2 on the year but have played a tough schedule, which is why they are still in the top 5.
5. Dewitt
Previous Ranking: 3
Dewitt dropped a couple of spots in the rankings, despite destroying Okemos 62-7 to remain unbeaten on the year. The Panthers have outscored their opponents 168-7 over the past three weeks.
