The Michigan High School Football season is now through Week 9. The top 25 rankings have been updated following action this past Friday.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college and high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

Detroit Catholic Central is still ranked No. 1 in the Michigan High School football rankings, but a wild week of games led to movement after that. Here is a breakdown of the updated top 25 Michigan high school football rankings as of Oct. 28, 2024:

1. Detroit Catholic Central

Previous Ranking: 1
The Shamrocks got past Martin Luther King 23-7 this past Friday to remain unbeaten on the season and improve to 9-0 on the year. Detroit Catholic Central has now won five consecutive games by 16 or more points ahead of Friday’s matchup with Stevenson.

2. Unity Christian

Previous Ranking: 6
Unity Christian moved all the way up from No. 6 to No. 2 after beating Notre Dame Prep 43-28 on Friday. Notre Dame Prep was ranked in the top 20 before falling to the Crusaders. Unity Christian has beaten every opponent this season by double digits. It will look to continue that streak on Friday against Hamilton.

3. Dewitt

Previous Ranking: 5
The Panthers moved up a spot in the Michigan High School Football rankings after beating Everett 55-20 this past Friday. The Dewitt offense has been explosive all season long, scoring at least 42 points in every game this year. The Panthers are set to play St. Johns this week.

4. De La Salle Collegiate

Previous Ranking: 4
The Pilots beat Chippewa Valley 31-21 on Friday to improve to 6-2 on the year. It wasn’t exactly a dominant performance by De La Salle Collegiate against a Chippewa Valley team that entered with a 3-5 record. But the Pilots did at least come out on top.

5. Zeeland West

Previous Ranking: 8
The Dux moved up three spots in the Michigan High School football rankings after beating West Catholic 34-20 this past Thursday. Zeeland Christian dropped a game against one of the best teams in the state in Unity Christian a month ago but is otherwise perfect on the year.

6. Hudsonville

Previous Ranking: 7
The Eagles moved up one spot in the rankings after pounding West Ottawa 46-8 on Friday. West Ottawa has only one win on the year, so Hudsonville was expected to take care of business. The Eagles certainly did that to improve to 8-1 on the season.

7. Mona Shores

Previous Ranking: 3
The Sailors dropped four spots after falling to Central Catholic 14-13 on Friday in a classic game. Mona Shores opted to go for 2 late but didn’t get the conversion in the one-point loss. The loss was the first of the season for Mona Shores, which has still proven that it is one of the top teams in Michigan.

8. Rockford

Previous Ranking: 9
The Rams moved up one spot after beating East Kentwood 45-27 this past Friday. Rockford dropped back-to-back games in the middle of the season by 8 combined points but has otherwise been perfect. The Rams will face Grandville next.

9. Belleville Tigers

Previous Ranking: 2
The Tigers were upset by Howell on Friday, falling 30-29 on the road to drop their first game of the year. The battle of unbeatens was a classic that went down to the wire, before Howell came out on top. The Belleville defense has been dominant most of the year, but Howell was able to have some success.

10. Byron Center

Previous Ranking: 10
Byron Center remained at No. 10 after beating Morris 48-28 on Friday. The Bulldogs only loss of the season came by 2 points against a top-10 Mona Shores squad. Up next, Byron center will play Northview.
