Michigan High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - October 7
Week 6 of Michigan high school football action is complete, and the top 25 rankings have been updated accordingly. The top two teams in the rankings stayed the same, but there is plenty of movement after that.
The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college and high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.
Here is a breakdown of the updated top 25 Michigan high school football rankings as of Oct. 7, 2024:
1. Detroit Catholic Central
Previous Ranking: 1
The Shamrocks remained unbeaten and atop the Michigan high school football rankings after beating Brother Rice 37-14 on Friday. Quarterback Skyler Hunter led Detroit Catholic Central to the victory and the Catholic League Central Division title, per The Detroit News. Up next, the Shamrocks will attempt to stay unbeaten when they face St. John’s Jesuit this Friday. The Titans are 0-8 on the year.
2. Belleville
Previous Ranking: 2
The Tigers beat John Glenn 42-15 on Friday to remain unbeaten. Belleville beat Clarkston 35-28 to open the season and has destroyed everyone it has played since, winning every game by 27 points or more. Belleville is likely to get another big win this coming weekend as the Tigers are playing a Wayne Memorial team that has yet to win a game this year.
3. Mona Shores
Previous Ranking: 4
Mona Shores is still unbeaten on the year and has moved all the way up to No. 3 after opening the year at No. 19. The Sailors beat Forest Hills Northern 33-7 on Friday, falling behind 7-0 early, only to score 33 unanswered points. The Sailors should have no problem getting to 7-0 on the year as they face a winless Union team next.
4. De La Salle Collegiate
Previous Ranking: 3
The Pilots dropped one spot, despite not playing a game this past weekend. De La Salle Collegiate had a bye ahead of its matchup with Brother Rice. The Pilots will return to action this coming Friday.
5. DeWitt
Previous Ranking: 6
The Panthers moved up another spot after pounding Holt Senior 64-0 on Friday to improve to 6-0 on the year. DeWitt opened the season unranked but has outperformed expectations and is now one of the top teams in all of Michigan high school football. The Panthers will face Grand Ledge on the road next weekend looking to remain unbeaten.

6. Zeeland West
Previous Ranking: 9
The Dux got back on track on Friday after suffering their first loss of the season the previous week and beat Forest Hills Central 28-7 in a battle of top-15 teams. It was an impressive performance by Zeeland West and improved the Dux to 5-1 on the year. Despite the loss to Unity Christian, it’s clear that Zeeland West still has one of the top teams in Michigan.
7. Unity Christian
Previous Ranking: 5
The Crusaders are now behind Zeeland West, despite beating the Dux a couple of weeks ago. Unity Christian dropped a couple of spots even though it had a bye week. It will be interesting to see if the 5-0 Crusaders can move back up the rankings once they return to action.
8. Davison
Previous Ranking: 10
Davison moved up a couple of spots after beating East Lansing 35-10 on Friday. The Cardinals dropped their season opener but have now won five straight games, including the last four by 23-plus points. Davison is facing a winless Carman-Ainsworth team next and should have a really good opportunity to win a sixth-straight game.
9. Rockford
Previous Ranking: 13
The Rams are back in the top 10 after handling Caledonia 34-14 on the road on Friday. It was an impressive performance against a Caledonia team that was on the outskirts of the Michigan high school football top 25 last week. Rockford faces a 1-5 West Ottawa team next and should have no problem coming out on top.
10. Dakota
Previous Ranking: 11
The Cougars moved into the top 10 after beating Romeo 42-7 to improve to 6-0 on the year. Dakota has steadily moved up the Michigan high school football rankings all season, starting at No. 21 before finally reaching the top 10 this week. Dakota does have a tough matchup this week against a 6-1 Eisenhower team that is ranked in the top 20.
