Michigan High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - September 30
Another week of Michigan High School football is in the books. The latest rankings are now out following Week 5 of action.
The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college and high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.
There were plenty of big games in Michigan this weekend, which led to some movement in the rankings. Here is where things stand as of Sept. 30, 2024:
1. Detroit Catholic Central
Previous Ranking: 1
The Shamrocks beat De La Salle Collegiate 31-14 on Sunday in a battle of top 5 teams. Samson Gash scored three touchdowns for Detroit Catholic Central in the win, per Macomb Daily. It was another strong performance by a Detroit Catholic Central team that is 5-0 on the year with some impressive wins.
2. Belleville
Previous Ranking: 2
The Tigers beat Franklin 35-6 on Friday to remain unbeaten and continue to hold their No. 2 spot. Belleville played a close game against Clarkston to open the 2024 season but has been dominant since. The Tigers have won each of their past four games by at least four scores.
3. De La Salle Collegiate
Previous Ranking: 2
The Pilots are still ranked No. 3, despite dropping their second straight game. After losing to Central Catholic out of Toledo, Ohio the previous week, De La Salle Collegiate lost to Detroit Catholic Central on Friday. Yes, the Tigers are 3-2, but they are also really good and have played one of the toughest schedules in the state. Look for them to finish the season strong.
4. Mona Shores
Previous Ranking: 8
The first real movement with the poll comes at No. 4 as Mona Shores has moved up four spots and into the top 5. The Sailors remained undefeated with a 35-27 win at Muskegon. Mona Shores has navigated a tough schedule this season, including beating back-to-back teams ranked in the Michigan High School Football top 25, to stay perfect on the year.
5. Unity Christian
Previous Ranking: 10
Another team that has made a serious move in the Michigan High School Football Rankings is Unity Christian. The Crusaders were unranked a few weeks ago but are now all the way up to No. 5 in the top 25. Unity Christian beat No. 5 Zeeland West 20-8 this past week to move up five spots. Isaac Stienstra had three touchdown runs for Unity Christian to lead the way, per Michigan Sports Radio.

6. DeWitt
Previous Ranking: 12
The DeWitt offense continues to shine and is a big reason why the Panthers are 5-0. DeWitt beat East Lansing 42-35 on Friday, a week after beating Hurricane 70-63. It’s clear that DeWitt has on offense that can score in a hurry, but it’s also clear that the Panthers have some work to do on defense. Still, being 5-0 at this stage of the season makes DeWitt a contender.
7. Adams
Previous Ranking: 4
The Highlanders suffered their first loss of the season on Friday, falling on the road at Lake Orion 28-25. Adams previously won a couple of one-score games before coming up just short this past weekend. The Highlanders have another tough test coming up as they will face a really good Oxford team on the road.
8. Eisenhower
Previous Ranking: 7
The Eagles dropped a spot, despite defeating Adlai Stevenson 35-13. Eisenhower has quickly climbed up the rankings and it’s easy to see why with the way they are playing. The Eagles have won every game this season by three scores.
9. Zeeland West
Previous Ranking: 5
The Dux dropped their first game of the season, falling 20-8 to Unity Christian. It has still been an excellent start to the season for Zeeland West as they are 4-1, including a win over rival Zeeland East. Zeeland West has a huge game coming up this weekend against Forest Hills Central.
10. Davison
Previous Ranking: 9
The Cardinals pounded Saginaw 56-0 on Friday to improve to 4-1 on the season. It was a tough start to the season for Davison as the Cardinals dropped a game against De La Salle Collegiate to open things up, but they are 4-0 since. Up next is a big-time matchup against East Lansing.
