Through 23 matches in the 2024-25 season, Mishawaka (Ind.) Penn 2026 wrestler Vinny Freeman has amassed an impressive 21-2 record, per Indiana Mat. Through three years, Freeman holds an all-time 85-16 record.

The son of Notre Dame head football coach Marcus Freeman, Vinny is receiving interest from some of the nation’s best programs. Michigan head coach Sean Bormet visited the Freeman household on Monday.

Michigan currently ranks No. 19 in the NWCA Coaches Poll with a 5-3 record this season. The Wolverines have featured 24 individual national champions in program history. Nick Suriano won in the 125-pound weight class in 2022 and Mason Parris won the following year in the heavyweight.

The Maize and Blue recently won the Big Ten Tournament championship in 2022 for the first time since 1973. Bormet was named NWCA and Big Ten Coach of the Year.

Vinny is the oldest of Marcus Freeman’s six children. The Notre Dame head football coach is fresh off of a national championship appearance with the Irish — the first time Notre Dame had made a national title game appearance since 2012.

Freeman is exiting his third season at the helm in South Bend. He was previously the defensive coordinator for one season.
