#9 Gulfport at #4 Madison CentralFriday, Sept. 13
Gulfport moved up in the rankings once again after beating Vancleave 35-0 last week. The Admirals went 6-5 a year ago and lost to Pearl in the first round of the playoffs, so the 2024 campaign certainly appears to be off to a stronger start. Madison Central entered the season with the state’s projected No. 2 strength of schedule. The Jaguars rose to No. 1 after beating Ocean Springs in week one, but fell from the top spot in the Mississippi high school football rankings this week after losing 21-7 to Brandon last week. Madison Central beat Gulfport by just two points a year ago, and this year, the On3 Massey Ratings project a 35-14 Jaguars victory.

#22 Oxford at #8 GrenadaFriday, Sept. 13
Oxford dropped 13 spots in this week’s rankings after losing 41-34 to South Panola. Grenada beat Winona 42-6 to improve to 2-1, bounding back nicely from a 38-24 loss to Oak Grove the previous week. The Chargers now have the No. 19 offense and No. 9 defense in the state of Mississippi. Grenada pulled out the 31-28 win over Oxford in 2023, but the On3 Massey Ratings see a 28-24 Oxford win this weekend.

#20 D’Iberville at #10 Picayune MemorialFriday, Sept. 13
D’Iberville is 2-0 on the season after wins against Columbia and Gautier. The Warriors are off to a much better start than a year ago, when they began the year 0-3 and finished 3-7. Picayune shot back up the rankings this week after beating Northshore (La.) 35-0, rebounding from its 60-34 loss to Brandon. This week’s clash with No. 20 D’Iberville kicks off a slate of three consecutive ranked games for the Maroon Tide with No. 9 Gulfport and No. 16 Ocean Springs laying in wait. Picayune beat D’Iberville 42-7 last season, but the On3 Massey Ratings project a closer matchup this year with the Maroon Tide winning 41-21.
