National Championship-winning coach takes over IMG Academy's high school football program

Florida’s IMG Academy hired former NCAA Division I mentor Greg Studrawa as their new high school football coach. The coach with over 20 years of experience will replace Billy Miller, who joined Bill Belichick’s staff at the University of North Carolina.
The Ascenders went with Studrawa despite attracting interest from elite college and high school football coaches. In an official release, IMG Academy football director said about Studrawa, “He brings a wealth of experience at the highest levels of college football, including national championship success that will benefit our student-athletes. We believe his championship mindset, deep recruiting connections, and commitment to providing an unrivaled experience for our student-athletes will elevate our program and continue our tradition of excellence on the national stage.”
IMG Academy will be Studrawa’s first high school football coaching stint. He was the LSU Tigers’ offensive line coach when they won the 2007 National Championship. The Ohio-born coach also became LSU’s offensive coordinator for 2011 and 2012. After LSU, Studrawa coached the Maryland Terrapins before taking on the offensive line coaching position at Ohio State.
With the Buckeyes, Studrawa worked with head coaches Urban Meyer and Ryan Day. His football wisdom helped the Buckeyes record double-digit victories in five of six seasons. Furthermore, some of his former wards that reached the NFL are Taylor Decker, Jamarco Jones, Isaiah Prince, Jonah Jackson, Josh Myers, Wyatt Davis, Nicholas Petit-Frere, and Paris Johnson Jr.

In addition to LSU, Maryland, and Ohio State, Studrawa also had coaching stints at Bowling Green, his alma mater, and Arkansas State. Meanwhile, he started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at the University of Cincinnati before becoming Wilmington College’s offensive coordinator from 1991 to 1996.
Greg Studrawa will take over a high school football team that finished with a 7-2 record last season. The Ascenders finished the season as the nation’s 22nd best team, based on the On3 Composite Team Rankings.
IMG Academy has been a pipeline of top football talent, producing players like JC Latham, Evan Neal, Greg Newsome, Cesar Ruiz, Nolan Smith, and J.J. McCarthy, among others. Therefore, maintaining the program’s elite status now rests heavily on Studrawa’s shoulders.
