The second weekend of September features another crammed schedule of high-profile national high school football games.

Later this week, 12 games between teams ranked in the On3 Massey Ratings national top 100 will kick off. Headlined by top-25 clashes in Texas and Nevada, some of the best programs out West and in the South are set to throw down.

Below are the national high school football games to keep an eye on this week.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

Top High School Football Games This Week

#7 Atascocita (Texas) vs. #11 Westlake (Texas) — Friday, Sept. 13
Previous Meeting: Westlake 49, Atascocita 28 (2015)
Another week of monumental matchups in Texas is headlined by a Friday-night showdown in Austin between Atascocita (2-0) and Westlake (2-0). The No. 7 Eagles are coming off a statement road win over former national top-25 foe Katy and have carried an impressive offense thus far. Westlake defeated Prosper to open its season with a bang and followed up with a 63-point showing last week. Atascocita’s dynamic running back combo of Oklahoma commit Tory Blaylock and Cardae Mack will likely be a handful for the Chaparrals. The Massey Ratings predict a 35-34 win for the Eagles.

#10 Guyer (Texas) vs. #9 North Crowley (Texas) — Friday, Sept. 13
Previous Meeting: Guyer 55, North Crowley 7 (2019)
North Crowley made national headlines last week, as it traveled to then-No. 3 DeSoto and upset the back-to-back state champions for an unbelievable 57-51 victory. As a result, the Panthers (2-0) made a big jump into the national top 10 and will look for another marquee win in the coming days when Guyer (2-0) comes to town. Led by Oklahoma QB commit Kevin Sperry, the Wildcats will also bring an impressive offense to the table on Friday night. The game will feature five Power Four commits. The Massey Ratings give Guyer a 52% win probability on the road.

#19 Orange Lutheran (Calif.) vs. #6 Bishop Gorman (Nev.) — Friday, Sept. 13
Previous Meeting: N/A
Two battle-tested programs with severely-tough schedules will cross paths in Las Vegas this Friday when Orange Lutheran (3-0) heads to Bishop Gorman (2-1). The No. 6 Gaels were no match for No. 1 Mater Dei last week and will look to wipe away that taste of defeat by taking down another impressive Golden State program. LSU WR commit Derek Meadows and the Gorman offense will look to break out against a Lutheran defense that hasn’t allowed more than 14 points in a game yet this season. Led by Nebraska QB commit TJ Lateef, the No. 19 Lancers slugged their way to a 15-13 win over Baltimore St. Frances Academy last week. Gorman is predicted to win 38-14 via the Massey Ratings.

Buford (Ga.) vs. Douglas County (Ga.) — Friday, Sept. 13
Previous Meeting: Buford 48, Douglas County 0 (2020)
Douglas County has emerged as one of the Peach State’s best so far in 2024, beginning the season 4-0, with the most recent victory being a big one over Langston Hughes. Junior receivers Aaron Gregory and Devin Carter are among the nation’s best and have been consistent targets for QB DJ Bordeaux. The season has been rockier thus far for Buford, the No. 7 team in the state, however. A tight loss to nationally-ranked Milton was followed by a one-point win at home. The Wolves (2-1) bounced back nicely last week, putting up 52 points on the road in a win over Roswell. Junior QB Dayton Raiola is improving and the Wolves boast a defense stacked with blue-chip prospects. The Massey Ratings favor the road team once again, giving Buford a 71% win probability.

St. Frances Academy (Md.) vs. #2 Duncanville (Texas) — Saturday, Sept. 14
Previous Meeting: N/A
Led by Alabama QB commit Keelon Russell and Oregon WR commit Dakorien Moore, Duncanville (1-0) finally began its regular season last week and promptly smushed South Oak Cliff by 22 points on the road. Russell threw for five touchdowns and over 300 yards while Moore caught nine passes and had one TD. The Panthers will now welcome in St. Frances Academy — also the Panthers — from Baltimore this weekend. St. Frances began its season with road wins in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, but fell 15-13 in California to Orange Lutheran last week. Now 2-1, the Maryland power will continue to rack up mileage and look to pull off a major upset in the Lone Star State. Duncanville is predicted to win 42-14 via the Massey Ratings.
