State tournaments have finished around parts of the nation as others continue to push toward high school basketball championship games. The On3 Composite Rankings have once again updated as teams near the conclusion of their 2024-25 season.

A majority of the top 25 are familiar faces, with Columbus (Fla.) still holding the top spot. Hoover (Ala.) finished an undefeated season and now rank No. 4 in the nation.

Below is the updated top 25 high school basketball programs in the nation, as of March 12, according to the On3 Composite Rankings.

The On3 Composite High School Basketball Team Rankings is a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. It includes Massey, Max Preps, ESPN, and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.

1. Columbus (Fla.)

Previous Ranking: No. 1
It’s been more of the same for Columbus, as it leans on one of the most talented rosters in the nation. Led by twin Duke signees Cameron and Cayden Boozer, as well as junior forwards Caleb Gaskins and Jaxon Richardson, The 27-3 Explorers have won their fourth consecutive state title and will be favorites to win nationals.

2. Roosevelt (Calif.)

Previous Ranking: No. 3 (+1)
Amidst its CIF State title run, Roosevelt has leapfrogged Harvard-Westlake for the No. 2 spot nationally. The Mustangs beat Westlake in the regional semifinals and then took down ranked Notre Dame in the regional finals. Roosevelt, led by elite combo guard Brayden Burries, will take on Archbishop Riordan for a state title this Saturday.

3. Harvard-Westlake (Calif.)

Previous Ranking: No. 2 (-1)
Harvard-Westlake fell to Roosevelt in the CIF State regional semifinals 71-59, bringing its record to 30-3. It was a terrific season for Duke small forward signee Nikolas Khamenia and Co., though the Wolverines weren’t able to conquer the postseason this time around.

4. Hoover (Ala.)

Previous Ranking: No. 6 (+2)
Hoover completed its perfect 35-0 season last week with a win over Florence in the Alabama 7A state finals. The Buccaneers have now won three state titles in a row. There were hardly any scores for Hoover this season as it overwhelmed opponents on both sides of the ball all year long.

5. Paul VI Catholic (Va.)

Previous Ranking: No. 7 (+2)
After defeating No. 9 Gonzaga to win the WCAC championship, Paul VI Catholic couldn’t win two titles in a row as it fell to Bishop O’Connell in the VISAA state tournament semifinals at the end of February. At 29-6, the Panthers put together an incredible season, led by junior five-star shooting guard Jordan Smith Jr. and senior power forward Jaquan Womack.

6. William J. Brennan (Texas)

Previous Ranking: No. 4 (-2)
Brennan’s quest for a state title was foiled in the 6A Division-I semifinals, falling 65-57 to Bellaire, which went on to lose to Duncanville in the championship game. The Bears finished with a 33-3 record and dominated for a majority of the season behind Houston point guard signee Kingston Flemings.

7. Allen (Texas)

Previous Ranking: No. 5 (-2)
Allen’s season came to an end in the Fort Worth ISD regional quarterfinals against Plano East. The Eagles went 32-6, hovered in and around the top 10 nationally for much of the season and also picked up a big win over William J. Brennan, one of the best regular-season victories for any team in the country all year.

8. Gonzaga (D.C.)

Previous Ranking: No. 9 (+1)
Gonzaga cruised to a DCSAA state tournament championship, capped off by a 16-point win over Sidwell in the title game. The Eagles were powered by North Carolina combo guard signee Derek Dixon this season and finished the year with a 29-5 record.

9. Montverde Academy (Fla.)

Previous Ranking: No. 10 (+1)
Montverde Academy is losing legendary head coach Kevin Boyle at the conclusion of this season, putting somewhat of a damper on a season that has also seen the Eagles lose a few games down the stretch. Montverde fell to CIA Bella Vista in an upset at the Nike EYBL Scholastic Tournament last week and is now 19-7.

10. Perry (Ariz.)

Previous Ranking: No. 8 (-2)
Still the lone team in Arizona ranked in the national top 25, Perry continues to roll behind elite uncommitted Five-Star Plus+ power forward Koa Peat, one of the top prospects in the nation. The Pumas rolled to a 2025 AIA state title, defeating Sunnyslope by 19 points in the title game over the weekend.
