National On3 High School Girls Basketball Composite Rankings Top 25 - Jan. 9
As the new year rolls on, so does the high school basketball season all across the country. The nation’s top girls basketball teams were in action throughout the holidays and into the first week of January.
San Jose (Calif.) Archbishop Mitty is the No. 1 girls high school basketball team in America, per the On3 Composite Rankings. Two other programs from the Golden State made the national top five.
The On3 Composite High School Basketball Team Rankings is a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. It includes Massey, MaxPreps, ESPN, and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.

Here are the top 25 girls high school basketball teams in the updated On3 Composite Rankings.
1. Archbishop Mitty (Calif.)
Looking to break a streak of three consecutive state championship losses, Archbishop Mitty is rolling through the 2024-25 season. The Monarchs are 10-1 this season, and their lone loss came last week to Ontario Christian. They bounced back with an 84-26 win over Valley Christian and will next play St. Ignatius College Preparatory on Jan. 11.
2. Bishop McNamara (Md.)
Bishop McNamara is 8-1 and has rattled off four consecutive wins after falling 53-49 to Mater Dei in December. The Mustangs have since beaten Clackamas, Grandview, Westtown and Elizabeth Seton. Up next is a date with St. John’s on Jan. 10.
3. Ontario Christian (Calif.)
Ontario Christian has been busy on the court this season, racking up an impressive 20-1 record. The Knights’ only loss came on Dec. 21 to top-ranked Archbishop Mitty, which they avenged on Jan. 4. Ontario Christian is next set to play on Jan. 11 against Saint Joseph (Calif.).
4. Sierra Canyon (Calif.)
Fresh off of a dominant 85-47 win over Marlborough (Calif.), Sierra Canyon will play Harvard-Westlake (Calif.) later this evening. The Trailblazers aim to improve to 17-1 on the season.
5. Bradley Central (Tenn.)
The first undefeated record in the national top 5 belongs to Bradley Central, which has cruised to a 17-0 record. The Bears’ last time out was a complete walloping of Howard Tech (Tenn.) by a score of 104-11. Next up in the path of this dangerous Bradley Central squad is Walker Valley (Tenn.).
6. Mater Dei (Calif.)
Mater Dei will ride a five-game win streak into Jan. 11’s matchup with Chaminade (Calif.). The Monarchs are 16-2 this season with losses to Ontario Christian and Archbishop Mitty — two of the nation’s top three girls basketball programs.
7. Johnston (Iowa)
Home to top-100 recruit and senior power forward Amani Jenkins, Johnston has yet to drop a game in the 2024-25 season. The Dragons are 10-0 and will aim to keep that streak going on Friday against Southeast Polk (Iowa).

8. Hamilton Southeastern (Ind.)
Hamilton Southeastern is 17-0 this year behind 21.1 points per game from star forward Maya Makalusky. The Royals beat Plainfield (Ind.) 57-55 in overtime on Jan. 4 and will next play Carroll (Ind.) on Jan. 11.
9. Hebron Christian Academy (Ga.)
Top-50 point guard Aubrey Beckham signed with Georgia coming into her senior season with Hebron Christian — one which sees the Lions sitting with a 15-1 record after the first week of January. They have won five straight and will next face off with Stephens County (Ga.) on Jan. 14.
10. Lawrence Central (Ind.)
Jaylah Lampley is a top-50 shooting guard and senior on the Lawrence Central girls basketball team. Behind her 22.1 points per game this season, Lawrence Central is 16-1 with a lone loss coming to nationally-ranked Hamilton Southeastern on Dec. 27. Back-to-back wins have the Bears back on track ahead of their Jan. 11 game against Assumption (Ky.).
