The 2024 New Jersey high school football season is entering the home stretch and the On3 Massey Ratings continue to fluctuate.

Don Bosco Prep is back into the top five after a big win over St. Joseph Regional, while a majority of the top 10 remains the same heading into the second half of October.

Below are the updated top 25 teams in the state as of Oct. 15.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Bergen Catholic

Previous: No. 1
After opening the season with a loss to nationally-ranked IMG Academy (Fla.), Bergen Catholic has responded by establishing itself as the top team in the Garden State by rattling off five wins in a row, with the most recent being a 34-0 shutout of Paramus Catholic. The Crusaders have the top-ranked offense and defense in the state, per the Massey Ratings. They now head to No. 6 Delbarton School this weekend.

2. DePaul Catholic

Previous: No. 2
DePaul Catholic is coming off a bye week and will now take on No. 24 St. Peters Prep at home this Thursday. The Spartans are 6-0 and have wins over the likes of Good Counsel (Md.), Cardinal Hayes (N.Y.) and in-state No. 5 Don Bosco Prep. Only ranked matchups are left on the calendar for the No. 2 team in the state — which could have a chance to challenge for the top spot come postseason play.

3. St. Joseph Regional

Previous: No. 4 (+1)
The Green Knights suffered their second loss of the season over the weekend, falling 35-28 to Don Bosco. Still, they moved up one spot in the state rankings. Wins over ranked Seton Hall Prep and St. Peters Prep boost the résumé as games against No. 1 Bergen and No. 2 DePaul are still on the calendar. First, St. Joseph will play at Pope John XXIII this Saturday.

4. Hun School

Previous: No. 3 (-1)
Hun School have been road warriors all season, but took its first loss of the season over the weekend in its home debut against nationally-ranked St. Frances Academy (Md.), losing 37-6. Still, the Raiders have wins over Mount Carmel (Ill.), Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (Ga.) and Avon Old Farms (Conn.) this season and also have an offense that ranks No. 3 in the state. This weekend, Hun is set to host The Hill School (Pa.)

5. Don Bosco Prep

Previous: No. 7 (+2)
The Ironmen picked up their biggest win of the season last week, taking down No. 3 St. Joseph Regional, 35-28. Don Bosco, now 3-3, has also taken on a tough schedule in 2024, including the top two teams in the state. It’s now set to host No. 24 Seton Hall Prep this week.

6. Delbarton School

Previous: No. 5 (-1)
Delbarton is coming off its bye week with a 5-1 record and is now gearing up to host top-ranked Bergen Catholic later this week. The Green Wave already own a win over Iona Prep, the No. 1 team in New York, and will now look for another major résumé boost late in the season. The Massey Ratings predict an 18-point victory for the No. 1 Crusaders.

7. Winslow Township

Previous: No. 6 (-1)
Winslow Township improved to 7-0 last week after shutting out Eastside 58-0. It was the second time that the Eagles have eclipsed 50 points this season and they now have a top-10 offense in the state, per the Massey Ratings. They now gear up for another ranked matchup at No. 16 Mainland Regional this weekend.
