New Jersey On3 High School Boys Basketball Composite Rankings Top 25 - Jan. 11

The New Jersey High School Boys Basketball competition heats up as the new year starts. With hundreds of games in store, the best teams occupy the top 25 spots in the New Jersey On3 Composite Rankings. Here are the updated ratings after the first week of 2025. The top two teams are in the top 100 nationwide.

The On3 Composite High School Basketball Team Ranking is a proprietary algorithm that compiles rankings listed in the public domain by respected High School media and data companies. It includes Massey, Max Preps, Cal Preps, ESPN, and SI, creating the industry’s most comprehensive and geographically balanced High School Team Ranking.

1. Bergen Catholic

The Crusaders remain the top team in New Jersey high school boys basketball despite their 69-61 loss to Bishop McNamara. Before that defeat, Bergen Catholic had a three-game winning streak, beating Rutgers Prep, Don Bosco Prep, and DePaul Catholic. Meanwhile, Declan Wucherpfennig was commendable in that setback, with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Bergen Catholic can bounce back by defeating Hudson Catholic on Jan. 12.

2. Don Bosco Prep

The Ironmen improved to 5-3 after a 58-36 victory over Paramus Catholic on Jan. 9. Jordan Ghee led Don Bosco Prep with 13 points, while Bryan Camacho had ten. Brady Loughlin and JP Skoric added nine and eight points. The Ironmen can start another winning streak by defeating Immaculate Conception on Jan. 12.

3. St. Rose

The Purple Rose dominated in their 84-51 against Point Pleasant Borough last Jan. 7. Four St. Rose players scored in double digits, with Jayden Hodge leading all scorers with 20 points. Avery Lynch added 16 points, Evan Romano contributed 14, and Tyler Cameron finished with 10 points. Romano also finished with eight rebounds and three steals, while Hodge added six assists. St. Rose hopes to get their sixth victory in nine games against Gill St. Bernards on Jan. 11.

4. Rutgers Prep

The Argonauts are still the fourth-best team in New Jersey high school boys basketball despite a 78-73 loss to Gill St. Bernards on Jan. 9. Jacob Canton carried the Rutgers Prep with 30 points, five rebounds, and four assists, while Myles Parker added 11 points. Logan Franz and Nicolas Nsenkyire added 12 points each in the loss. Rutgers Prep returns to action against St. Joseph Regional on Jan. 11.

5. St. Peters Prep

The Marauders are now at 9-2 after a 76-42 victory over Hoboken. Keiner Asprilla had 20 points, while Richie Rosa added 18. Derek Gomez (13 points) and Caden Post (10) also scored double digits for St. Peters Prep. They can extend their winning streak to nine games by defeating Rutgers Prep on Jan. 12.

6. Blair Academy

The Buccaneers have won their third straight game, defeating Peddie 64-50. They started their season with a win over Newman and followed it with a lopsided victory against Phelps. Blair Academy can go to 4-0 if they defeat Hill Blues on Jan. 15.

7. Elizabeth

After their first defeat in the 2024-25 New Jersey high school boys basketball season, Elizabeth returned to the win column via a 61-43 decision against Union. Cameron McRae paced the team with 23 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals. Jayden Johnson supported with 18 points, while Jordan Torres completed a double-double (12 points, 14 rebounds). Elizabeth can notch their tenth win this season against Union Catholic Regional on Jan. 14.

8. The Patrick School

The Fighting Celtics lost their third game in the season against top-ranked prospect AJ Dybantsa and Utah Prep. Despite that defeat, they remain among the top ten teams in New Jersey. Brandon Lee was impressive in the loss, finishing with 27 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Kuai Deng chipped in 26 points and five rebounds, while Jaysean Williams had 12 points and four assists. Patrick School will face the Camden Panthers on Jan. 11.

9. Roselle Catholic

The Lions earned their fourth win in five games after defeating Elizabeth 72-60. Five players scored in double digits, led by Jalen Grant with 22 points. Trevon Lewis finished with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Armagh Caldwell contributed 12 points. Tyrease Hunter led the Lions with seven assists to go with 11 points. Rosell Catholic can improve to 5-1 with a win against Seton Hall Prep on Jan. 11.

10. Hudson Catholic

The Hawks are at 7-1 to start the 2024-25 New Jersey high school boys basketball season. They dominated Snyder, 65-32, in their last game, led by Keith McKnight’s 18 points. Elijah Colon added 14 points, while Omari Moore contributed 12 points. Hudson Catholic can go to 8-1 if they defeat top-ranked Bergen Catholic on Jan. 12.
