The latest updates feature a new team in the top 10 and two more new squads among the top 25.
Below are the full top-25 rankings after Week 4:
The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Iona Prep
Previous Ranking: No. 1
The Gaels have faced one of the state’s toughest schedules early on, facing Bergen Catholic, the No. 1 team in New Jersey, Garden State powerhouse Delbarton School, and Springfield Central (Mass.) in their first two games. They came into the weekend at 1-2 but still held the top spot in the rankings. After a 49-13 blowout of Archbishop Stepinac, they’ll remain there for another week.
2. Cardinal Hayes
Previous Ranking: No. 3 (+1)
After picking up consecutive wins over Catholic Memorial (Mass.) and Erasmus Hall to start the season, Hayes fell at the hands of New Jersey power DePaul Catholic in Week 3. With a chance to get things back on track against Staten Island’s Moore Catholic, they did exactly that in a dominant 34-3 victory.
3. Somers
Previous Ranking: No. 2 (-1)
Following close wins over Ramapo (N.J.) and then-No. 22 Yorktown, the Tuskers rolled to a 42-20 win over Mahopac on Friday night to remain undefeated.
4. Garden City
Previous Ranking: No. 4
The Trojans rolled to their 45th consecutive victory — a Long Island record — with a 29-14 win over Manhasset Secondary School.
5. St. Francis
Previous Ranking: No. 5
Coming off back-to-back weekends on the road in Ohio — first a win over Cleveland Benedictine and then a loss to Ironton — St. Francis was looking to get back on track against one of the Northeast’s toughest squads: Catholic Memorial (Mass.). The game was canceled due to an illness going around the team and Catholic Memorial was awarded a forfeit win.
6. Shaker
Previous Ranking: No. 7 (+1)
Shaker bullied its way to a 28-7 victory two weeks against a top-25 Shenendehowa team, entering this week with a top-10 defense in the state, per the Massey Ratings. They got their first road test of the season on last week against Schenectady Niskayuna, taking home a 35-14 win to move up even further in the top 10. After a 34-6 win over Guilderland, they’ll look to keep the streak going on Friday against Colonie Central.
7. Canisius
Previous Ranking: No. 6 (-1)
Canisius saw mixed results the past two weekends against out-of-state opponents, first beating Scranton (Pa.) and then falling 41-7 to Ohio powerhouse Washington. The Crusaders fell again on Thursday night to Cathedral Prep out of Pennsylvania 36-24. It doesn’t get any easier though with a road date at No. 5 St. Francis this weekend.
