New York High School Football Rankings: Top 25 teams - Oct. 14
Another week of New York high school football is in the books and there’s once again been movement in the On3 Massey Ratings as the postseason begins to loom.
Cardinal Hayes dropped three spots to No. 5 after losing to No. 1 Iona Prep. Chaminade is now into the top 10 after winning its fourth game in a row.
Below are the full top 25 rankings in the state of New York heading into the third week of October.
The On3 Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory. According to the model — four teams from Alabama rank inside the nationwide top 100.

1. Iona Prep
Previous: No. 1
The Gaels outlasted Cardinal Hayes last week, picking up a huge 34-27 win on the road to improve to 5-2 on the season. The No. 1 offense and No. 2 defense in the state resides in New Rochelle, according to the Massey Ratings. Now winners of four in a row, Iona hosts Kellenberg Memorial this week and is once again a heavy favorite.
2. Somers
Previous: No. 3 (+1)
Somers continues to creep up the state rankings and is now the No. 2 team in the state after crushing Harrison 40-3 over the weekend. Somers is now 6-0 on the season and has scored 40-plus points in all but one game. The Tuskers are set to host Brewster this week and are favored to win each of the remaining games on their regular season schedule.
3. Albany Christian Brothers Academy
Previous: No. 4 (+1)
Albany Christian Brothers Academy is averaging over 52 points per game — in games not ending via forfeit — this season. The Brothers cruised past Niskayuna 47-6 last week and are now 6-0 this season. Their biggest test of the season thus far awaits this week when they head to No. 6 Shaker. The Massey Ratings predict a 28-22 win for the Brothers.
4. Garden City
Previous: No. 5 (+1)
Garden City’s defense continues to wreak havoc on opposing offenses. The 6-0 Trojans have now allowed just 23 total points this season following a 42-0 shutout win over South Side. Just one team has reached double-digits against the Trojans, who now welcome Lynbrook this weekend. The path to an undefeated regular season is clear for the No. 4 team in the state.
5. Cardinal Hayes
Previous: No. 2 (-3)
The Cardinals fought but were unable to overcome top-ranked Iona Prep, falling 34-27 over the weekend. Hayes dropped three spots in the state rankings as a result but is still clearly one of the best in the Empire State, despite its 5-2 record. It has an opportunity to bounce back right away with a big win as it heads to No. 8 Chaminade this weekend.
6. Shaker
Previous: No. 6
Shaker is now 6-0 this season following a 26-14 road win over Averill Park. The Bison also boast an impressive defense, which ranks No. 6 in the state, per the Massey Ratings. In six games, Shaker is allowing an average of just 8.1 points. It now gears up for its biggest game of the season as No. 3 Albany Christian Brothers Academy comes to town this week.
7. Syracuse Christian Brothers Academy
Previous: No. 7
Syracuse Christian Brothers Academy also improved to 6-0 over the weekend after taking down Baldwinsville 49-7. The Brothers have now scored 40-plus points four games in a row and has a top-five offense in the state, per the Massey Ratings. With an undefeated regular season in sight, they now host West Genesee Senior this week.

8. Chaminade
Previous: No. 11 (+3)
Chaminade now also finds itself on a four-game winning streak after defeating Kellenberg Memorial by 21 points over the weekend. The Flyers have a top-10 defense in the state and remain undefeated against in-state competition. They now host No. 5 Cardinal Hayes this week in one of the biggest games of the season across the state.
9. Hamburg St. Francis
Previous: No. 8 (-1)
St. Francis picked up its third win of the season over the weekend, defeating St Joseph 28-7. Now 3-3, the Red Raiders have the No. 6 offense in the state, per the Massey Ratings. They stay home this week and will welcome in Bishop Timon-St. Jude on Saturday night.
10. Melville St. Anthony’s
Previous: No. 10
After giving top-ranked Iona Prep a scare two weeks ago, St. Anthony’s got back to .500 on the season with a 42-26 win over Xavier. Despite some early-season struggles, the offense still ranks No. 2 in the state, per the Massey Ratings. The Friars are now 4-4 and host St. John the Baptist this weekend.
