No. 1 Miami Columbus soundly defeats No. 11 Montverde

On Friday, No. 11 ranked Montverde (Fla.) Academy faced off against On3’s National High School Boys Basketball Composite Rankings No. 1 ranked Miami Christopher Columbus. Top-ranked Columbus cruised to a 79-59 victory after never trailing in the game.

Columbus out rebounded Montverde 31-16 and they put four players in double figures. While Montverde had seven players score in the game, they struggled to get into any offensive rhythm or establish any presence in the post.

Duke signee Cam Boozer, a 6-foot-9 senior at Columbus High, led the way with a game-high 25 points and 15 rebounds while adding six assists. Four-star junior wing Jaxon Richardson, the son of former NBA Dunk champion Jason Richardson, added 23 points along with four-star Duke signee Cayden Boozer posting 13 points, six rebounds, and four assists.

Montverde was led by four-star wing Kayden Allen. On3’s No. 14 ranked player in 2026 finished with 19 points. Creighton four-star signee Hudson Greer knocked down four threes en route to 16 points.

This is Columbus’ second win over Montverde on the season, beating the Eagles 59-57 in December. Columbus wins their fifth straight and moves to 18-3 on the season. This is Montverde’s second straight loss to move to 12-4 on the season.

Montverde will next play Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy on 1/27. Columbus will play Fort Lauderdale (FL) Westminster Academy on 1/28.
