Northside (Ga.) hiring head coach Daniel 'Boone' Williams from Langston Hughes
A major shakeup in the Georgia high school football head coaching ranks is on the way, as Langston Hughes head coach Daniel “Boone” Williams is leaving to become the new head coach at Northside High in Warner Robins.
ITG’s Phil Jones first reported the move on Monday afternoon:
Williams became the head coach at Langston Hughes in 2019 and proceeded to compile a 59-9 record across six seasons. Hughes won the Georgia 6A state title in 2022 and lost in the title game this season. Williams has spent 14 total seasons as a part of the Panthers’ staff.
Hughes’ 2024 season was one its best under Williams, as it finished with a 13-2 record, losing to Milton in the state championship at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The roster featured three Power Four signees. The Panthers finished as the No. 41 team in the nation and No. 6 team in Georgia, according to the On3 Composite Rankings.

After enjoying plenty of success in the 2010s, Northside has finished with a losing record in four of the last six seasons. The Eagles went 2-8 in 2024, barely averaging over 10 points per game. They were held to 7 points or less six times. The On3 Composite Rankings pegged Northside as the No. 144 team in the state.
Williams reached a double-digit win total in four of his six seasons at Langston Hughes. He’s now set to replace Ben Bailey, who resigned from head coach after two seasons in Warner Robins.
