Ohio High School Football Rankings

The Ohio high school football rankings have updated as the final month of the regular season continues to roll on.

St. Xavier played in the Buckeye State’s only ranked matchup last weekend, beating LaSalle 9-0.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

Below is the updated Ohio On3 Massey Ratings top 25, as of Oct. 14.

1. Archbishop Moeller

Moeller improved to 7-1 over the weekend with a 44-0 shutout of Cleveland St. Ignatius. The Crusaders have been on a tear in Ohio competition this season with wins against No. 20 Princeton, No. 8 St. Xavier, No. 23 LaSalle and Elder. On deck is one of the state’s most anticipated games of the year as Moeller hosts three-time defending state champion St. Edward.

2. Marion Local (+1)

Marion Local extended its winning streak that has been intact since 2020 with a 42-0 win over Anna last Friday. The Flyers play Minster this weekend before their huge season-ending showdown with No. 19 Coldwater the following week. Marion Local currently has the No. 3 offense and No. 7 defense in the state of Ohio.

3. Walsh Jesuit (-1)

Still perfect on the season, Walsh Jesuit hammered Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin 63-21 last Friday — a week after the Warriors’ signature win over then-No. 1 Archbishop Hoban. Brunswick and Padua Franciscan are the final two teams on Walsh’s schedule; the Warriors are big favorites for both.

4. Avon

Also 8-0 this year, Avon handled Midview with ease in a 49-10 victory over the weekend. The Eagles beat Glenville in a tough 13-12 battle this year, but Avon does not currently have any wins over ranked teams on its resume. It will not play a ranked team until the postseason with Steele and Avon Lake remaining on the schedule.

5. Massillon Washington

Massillon beat Legacy School of Sports Sciences 41-0 to improve to 6-2 on the year. The Tigers have games against Harding and Canton McKinley to close out the regular season. They have a top-5 offense and defense in Ohio, which propelled Massillon to a huge win over Lakewood St. Edward earlier this year.

6. Archbishop Hoban (+1)

Hoban picked up an impressive win over Cleveland Glenville on Friday in a 20-0 shutout. The Knights’ lone loss to an Ohio team in 2024 came the week before, falling 19-14 to Walsh Jesuit. Joban will play Central York this week — the No. 23 team in Pennsylvania — before ending the year with No. 11 St. Edward.

7. Anderson (-1)

With a 46-7 win over Walnut Hills on Friday, Anderson improved its undefeated record to 8-0. The Raptors play in one of the state’s biggest games this week with No. 12 Winton Woods coming to town. Anderson is currently a 19-point favorite. Winton Woods will be the first ranked opponent Anderson has faced this season.

8. St. Xavier

St. Xavier improved to 5-3 with a low-scoring 9-0 win over No. 23 LaSalle last week. The Bombers have dropped games to No. 9 Lakota West, No. 1 Moeller and Louisville Trinity (No. 2 in Kentucky) — but have impressive wins over LaSalle, Elder, Centerville and Indianapolis Cathedral. Up next for St. X is Cleveland St. Ignatius on Friday.

9. Lakota West (+1)

Lakota West is 7-1 after beating Oak Hills 52-7 last weekend. The Firebirds have a signature win over No. 8 St. Xavier on the resume, with their only loss coming on the road at No. 20 Princeton in early September. West’s No. 3 defense will be put to the test in a crosstown rivalry game this Friday against Lakota East.

10. Toledo Central Catholic (-1)

Central Catholic improved to 7-1 with a 7-6 win against Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (Mich.) — the fifth straight win for the Irish since falling to Detroit Catholic Central (Mich.) on Sept. 6. The Irish will close with Toledo St. Francis De Sales and Mona Shores (No. 4 in Michigan).
