Ohio High School Football Rankings

The Ohio high school football rankings have updated as the final month of the regular season continues to roll on.

Moeller downed St. Edward on Saturday in a matchup of two of Ohio’s bluest of blue bloods, while Anderson also picked up a ranked win of its own against Winton Woods.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

Below is the updated Ohio On3 Massey Ratings top 25, as of Oct. 21.

1. Archbishop Moeller

Moeller picked up the biggest win of the weekend, taking down three-time defending state champion St. Edward 35-30 on Saturday. The Crusaders are 8-1 this year, their lone loss coming to Mallard Creek (N.C.). Moeller’s resume is highlighted by wins against No. 8 St. Xavier, No. 21 LaSalle, No. 24 Elder and now No. 11 St. Edward. This Saturday, the Crusaders will take on Muskegon.

2. Massillon Washington (+3)

Massillon improved to 7-2 on the year with a 45-14 win over Warren G. Harding last week. The Tigers will play Canton McKinley this Saturday as a massive favorite. Massillon has lost to Bergen Catholic (N.J.) DeMatha Catholic (Md.) — two of the top teams in their respective states.

3. Walsh Jesuit

Walsh Jesuit stayed undefeated with a 38-7 win against Brunswick this past Friday. The Warriors have beaten No. 18 Ursuline and No. 6 Hoban en route to a 9-0 record thus far. They will look to complete an undefeated regular season this Friday against Padua Franciscan.

4. Marion Local (-2)

Marion Local beat Minster 21-0 last week to extend one of the longest winning streaks in the nation — one that dates back to the 2020 season. The Flyers have their toughest test of the season on deck — their annual rivalry game with No. 14 Coldwater.

5. Avon (-1)

Avon is also undefeated through nine games and fresh off of a 42-7 win over Steele. The Eagles do not have a ranked win this season, but did beat Glenville — the defending Division IV state champ. Avon will close with Avon Lake on Friday.

6. Archbishop Hoban

Hoban is 7-2 this year with losses coming to No. 3 Walsh Jesuit and Archbishop Spalding (Md.). The Knights have also beaten Glenville this year, but will have their first ranked matchup of the season this week against No. 11 St. Edward.

7. Anderson

Only one Ohio team besides Moeller picked up a ranked win over the weekend — Anderson. The Raptors beat then-No. 12 Winton Woods 31-17 for their first ranked win of the season. Anderson is undefeated heading into its road game at Loveland.

8. St. Xavier

St. Xavier has, as usual, played a brutal schedule this season. The Bombers have lost to No. 10 Lakota West, No. 1 Moeller and Louisville Trinity (Ky.) — but have also beaten Indianapolis Cathedral (Ind.), No. 24 Elder and No. 21 LaSalle. St. X will play Life Christian Academy this week.

9. Toledo Central Catholic (+1)

Toledo Central Catholic is 8-1 following a 21-point win over St. Francis De Sales this past Friday. The Irish have picked up several impressive wins this season in games against Toledo Whitmer, De La Salle Collegiate (Mich.) and Orchard Lake St. Mary’s (Mich.). Central Catholic’s lone loss was to Detroit Catholic Central, the No. 1 team in Michigan. This week, Central Catholic will play Mona Shores (Mich.) — the No. 3 squad in the Mitten State.

10. Lakota West (-1)

Lakota West has played two ranked teams this season and split the difference. The Firebirds beat No. 8 St. Xavier at home in week one before falling to No. 20 Princeton on the road two weeks later. Since then, Lakota West has fired off six consecutive wins ahead of this week’s matchup with Mason.
