The Ohio high school football rankings have updated heading into the second week of October.
There is a new No. 1 team in the Buckeye State this week after Walsh Jesuit upset previous No. 1 Hoban. Marion Local jumped to No. 3 in the rankings after keeping the most impressive winning streak in the state alive, and Avon and Anderson remained perfect through seven weeks.
The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. Archbishop Moeller (+1)
The 8-1 Moeller Crusaders rose to No. 1 in Ohio for the first time this season with a 42-14 ranked win over Greater Catholic League rival Elder. The Crusaders have a strong resume with wins against Elder, No. 24 Princeton, East Central (Ind.), No. 8 St. Xavier and No. 20 LaSalle. Up next for the top-ranked Crusaders is Cleveland St. Ignatius.
2. Walsh Jesuit (+6)
Walsh Jesuit picked up the best win of the weekend and skyrocketed in the rankings as a result. The Warriors hosted then-No. 1 Hoban last Friday and came away with the hard-fought 19-14 victory to stay undefeated. Walsh is a huge favorite this Friday against Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin.
3. Marion Local (+2)
Division VII Marion Local hammered Fort Recovery 62-0 last Friday. The Flyers have not lost a game since 2020 and have outscored their opponents 264-22 in 2024. They are 35-point favorites on the road at 4-2 Anna this week.
4. Avon
Avon stayed perfect and held steady at No. 4 in the state with a 49-7 win over Berea-Midpark. The Eagles’ best win of the year is a 13-12 victory against Glenville in early September. On deck for the Eagles is Midview.
5. Massillon Washington (-2)
Massillon Washington dropped its second game of the season 20-14 to DeMatha Catholic (Md.) two weeks ago before bouncing back against Clarkson 45-6. The Tigers will host Edison this week as 35-point favorites.
6. Anderson (+1)
Anderson has continued to slowly work its way up the top 25 this season, now with a 7-0 record. The Raptors’ strong suit is not defense — No. 24 in Ohio — but their offense is second in the state. They beat Turpin 56-13 last Friday and will play Walnut Hills this Friday before taking on No. 12 Winton Woods.
7. Archbishop Hoban (-6)
Hoban dropped its first game to an Ohio opponent last weekend with a tough 19-14 loss to Walsh Jesuit. The Knights fell six spots in the rankings ahead of their clash with Glenville.
