Oklahoma High School Football Rankings: Preseason Top 25 teams

High school football in the state of Oklahoma is set to begin in less than two weeks. Programs all across the Sooner State will soon be back in action, chasing championships under the lights on Friday nights.
The On3 Massey Ratings, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.
Oklahoma is one of the few states that has a preseason top-10 program nationally. Just two other schools check in inside the top 200, but the new addition to SEC country is still set to feature some top-notch football across the state this year.
1. Bixby
The 2023 season brought a perfect 13-0 record and another state championship for Bixby — which has now won six titles in a row. The Spartans are once again the heavy favorites in Oklahoma and also check in as the preseason No. 10 team in the nation. The season-opening trip to Owasso on Aug. 30 could prove to be the toughest regular season bout. Auburn offensive tackle commit Broderick Shull, On3’s No. 24 overall prospect and top-ranked player in the state, will be difficult to best in the trenches this fall.
2. Tulsa Union
The Redhawks fell in the 6A-I playoff semifinals last year, but still collected 11 victories. Union will be led by Kansas EDGE commit Josiah Hammond and Boston College cornerback commit Ashton Cunningham on the defensive side of the ball this season. A stout schedule awaits and will begin on Aug. 30 with a trip to take on Bentonville (Ark.), a top-100 program nationally. The Redhawks will take on Jenks — the only team to beat them last season — in a big matchup on Sept. 13.
3. Jenks
Rounding out the consensus top three teams in the state, Jenks made a run to the state title game last season, defeating Union in the semifinals before falling to Bixby in the championship. The Trojans lost five games last season, however, and will look to ride a much steadier ship in 2024. Boston College quarterback commit Shaker Reisig will be one of the top gunslingers in the state, while 2026 four-star running back Kaydin Jones is ranked as the No. 2 junior in the state. Back-to-back road trips to Union and Bixby will be a tall task next month.
4. Owasso
Owasso reached the state semifinals last season and fell to eventual champions Bixby, finishing 2023 with a 9-3 record. The Rams are set to face each of three schools ranked above them entering the fall and will open the season with a chance for revenge against Bixby. Owasso will be a force in the trenches, headlined by Arkansas interior offensive lineman commit Blake Cherry, Oklahoma State IOL commit Ryker Haff and 2026 four-star defensive lineman Tajh Overton.
5. Midwest City Carl Albert
While Bixby has dominated 6A, Carl Albert has done the same at 5A. The Titans went undefeated in 2023, winning their seventh state title in the last eight years. Expectations are more of the same this fall as the team will be led by a trio of Oklahoma commits. Four-star cornerback Trystan Haynes is the No. 2 player in the state, while four-star athlete Trynae Washington and three-star linebacker Marcus James check in at No. 7 and 11, respectively.
6. Stillwater
Stillwater lost the 6A-II state championship game on the final play a season ago. The Pioneers still won 10 games and are once again poised to reach the top of the mountain later this time around. An early-season clash at home against Union and a road trip to Choctaw highlight the upcoming schedule for Stillwater this fall.
7. Del City
The Eagles won 13 games in a row last season before falling to Carl Albert in the 5A state title game. Once again pegged to have one of the state’s top defenses, Del City is currently favored to win each of its regular season games. Three consecutive road games — at Tulsa Washington, Midwest City and Collinsville — will provide a challenge early in the year.

8. Edmond Santa Fe
Santa Fe is once again looking to contend with the big dogs in the 6A class. Arizona State running back commit Demarius Robinson is one of the state’s top burners and will spearhead the Wolves’ offense this fall. After losing to Jenks in the playoffs last season, Santa Fe will open the year against the Trojans on Aug. 30.
9. Choctaw
The Yellowjackets won eight games a season ago and will once again challenge for the 6A-II crown in 2024. Choctaw will travel to Kansas for a matchup against Gardener Edgerton before returning home to host Bixby in a challenging back-to-back stretch next month, highlighting the upcoming schedule.
10. Broken Arrow
Last year was a season to forget for the Tigers, who finished with just three victories and eight defeats. One of the state’s toughest schedules awaits Broken Arrow once again this fall. The season begins with two games at home against opponents from Arkansas in Har-Ber and Fayetteville High. A road trip to Owasso will provide another challenge, as will home contests against Santa Fe and Union.
