Oklahoma High School Football Rankings

With five weeks in the rearview mirror, Oklahoma high school football teams are nearing the midpoint of their respective seasons. This past Friday, programs around the state competed to boost their postseason standings. The On3 Massey Ratings adjusted for each outcome.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

For the fifth straight week, only two schools from Oklahoma made an appearance in the Top 50 of On3’s National High School Football Rankings. No school ranked higher than the Bixby Spartans, who improved to No. 19 in the nation and remained No. 1 in the Sooner State.

1. Bixby

Previous Ranking: 1
On Friday, Bixby handily defeated Moore 49-7. In the win, the Spartans’ dual-quarterback system worked to perfection, with QBs Carson Kirby and Braeden Presley each finding rushing and passing touchdowns. Bixby has defeated Moore by 40 or more points in their last three meetings.

2. Owasso

Previous Ranking: 2
On Friday, Owasso improved to 5-0 with a dominant 48-14 win over No. 4 Union. The Rams burst out of the starting gates in the win, taking a 27-0 lead at halftime. Quarterback Drew Frankenfield was stunning in the victory, completing 75% of his passes for three touchdowns and 136 yards.

3. Carl Albert

Previous Ranking: 4
Carl Albert was never under any stress in its 70-0 blowout win over El Reno. In the victory, QB Devin Woodring stole the show, throwing for 224 yards and four touchdowns while completing 91.7% of his passes, and also rushing for 66 yards.

4. Union

Previous Ranking: 3
Union was unable to pull off an upset against Owasso on Friday, dropping one spot in the Oklahoma High School Football Rankings. However, Union will have a chance to bounce back this week when it faces off against No. 34 Norman North. The On3 Massey Ratings give Union an 88% chance of winning the game.

5. Jenks

Previous Ranking: 5
After suffering losses against Owasso, Union and Bixby, Jenks finally had a chance to secure a win on Friday night. Jenks running back KD Jones gave Norman’s defense fits in the 31-12 victory. Jones punched in two scores on the ground in the triumph.
