Oklahoma High School Football Rankings

Even in a quiet week, there are significant changes. While many schools enjoyed byes around the state this past week, others continued to scrap to improve their ranking. The On3 Massey Ratings honored their hard work, adjusting for each outcome.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

For the third straight week, only two schools from Oklahoma made an appearance in the Top 50 of On3’s National High School Football Rankings. However, there was a noteworthy shift in the rankings, with Bixby securing the No. 1 spot in the state.

1. Bixby

Previous Ranking: 2
On Friday, Bixby dominated Choctaw in a 55-27 blowout win. Bixby junior quarterback Carson Kirby was a standout in the victory, completing 20-of-his-27 pass attempts for 199 yards and three touchdowns. He tallied 47 rushing yards in the win, as well.

2. Owasso

Previous Ranking: 1
Owasso fell one spot after enjoying a bye this past Friday. Nonetheless, schools around the state won’t forget Owasso’s dominance through its first two games. The Rams are averaging 43.3 points per game and boast wins over two Top-5 teams.

3. Union

Previous Ranking: 3
Union also didn’t play this past week as it rested up from a hard-fought 9-3 win over Jenks on Sept. 13. It was the lowest-scoring Backyard Bowl in the game’s history. Union wide receiver Stone Turner excelled, recording four catches for 130 yards.

4. Carl Albert

Previous Ranking: 6
Carl Albert jumped two spots in this week’s Oklahoma High School Football Rankings after walloping Stillwater 30-0 on Friday. Carl Albert’s defense was stellar in the win, holding Stillwater to a mere 132 total yards.

5. Jenks

Previous Ranking: 5
Jenks’ 1-2 record is misleading. The Trojans’ two losses this season were against Owasso and Union. Neither of the games against the Top-3 opponents were blowouts. Nonetheless, with its next game against No. 1 Bixby, Jenks’ schedule isn’t about to get any easier.

6. Deer Creek

Previous Ranking: 7
Deek Creek didn’t play on Friday but turned heads with its 35-10 triumph over Norman North on Sept. 13. In the victory, Deer Creek quarterback Grady Adamson stole the show, amassing a game-high four total touchdowns.

7. Lincoln Christian School

Previous Ranking: 9
Like many others, Lincoln Christian School didn’t play this past week. Nonetheless, its 3-0 record speaks for itself. On Sept. 13, Lincoln Christian handed Shiloh Christian a 38-14 beatdown. The win was Lincoln Christian’s 17th in a row.

8. Muskogee

Previous Ranking: 8
Muskogee didn’t play on Friday but on Sept. 13, it squeaked out a thrilling 49-48 win against Bentonville West. Muskogee’s offense was a two-headed monster, with quarterback Jamarian Ficklin collecting four touchdown passes while running back PJ Wallace rushed for 185 yards.

9. Norman

Previous Ranking: 10
Norman didn’t rest on its laurels this week, securing a comfortable 41-14 victory over Piedmont on Friday. In the win, quarterback Phoenix Mercury threw four touchdown passes, including three to tight end Crew Noles. Running back Kam Donald added over 100 rushing yards and a score to Norman’s winning effort, as well.

10. Stillwater

Previous Ranking: 4
Stillwater’s ranking suffered due to its 30-0 loss to Carl Albert. Nonetheless, the Pioneers didn’t make excuses for its underwhelming performance. After the game, Stillwater head coach Chad Cawood owned the loss, stating it was an “old-fashioned butt-whooping, and we’re on the other end of it.”
