Bishop Gorman Mater Dei

Two of the nation’s best high school football teams will meet at Santa Ana Stadium Friday night as No. 7 Bishop Gorman (Nev.) takes on No. 1 Mater Dei (Calif.).

The matchup features over two dozen ranked recruits in the On3 Industry Ranking — a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Gorman (2-0) already has wins over the No. 2 team in Hawaii and the No. 3 team in Florida. Mater Dei (1-0) looked the part in its season-opening win and has won all three previous meetings against the Gaels — including a 24-21 victory in 2022. That 2022 loss was Bishop Gorman’s last time on that side of the coin, as the Gaels have won 27 consecutive games.
