Pennsylvania High School Football Rankings: Top 25 Teams - September 16
On3

The Pennsylvania high school football rankings have updated as teams continue to inch closer to the postseason.

St. Joseph’s Prep beat a ranked Roman Catholic squad on Saturday a day after North Allegheny upset then-No. 3 Pine-Richland. Easton Area also picked up a top-10 upset over the weekend.

The On3 Massey Ratings — which were officially used during the BCS era and have generated college high school sports team rankings since 1995 — rank sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule and margin of victory.

1. LaSalle College

LaSalle hammered Father Judge 42-0 on Saturday to improve to 9-0 on the season. The Explorers have racked up a number of impressive victories this year, including wins against No. 15 Harrisburg, No. 4 Malvern and No. 2 St. Joseph’s Prep. They will have another test in the final regular season game of the year this Saturday at home against No. 18 Roman Catholic.

2. St. Joseph’s Prep School

St. Joseph’s beat No. 18 Roman Catholic 48-20 on Saturday to improve to 5-2 on the year. The Hawks’ two losses came to Lakewood (Ohio) St. Edward in week one and No. 1 LaSalle College in early October. In addition to its most recent game against Roman Catholic, St. Joseph’s has added wins against No. 22 Erasmus Hall and Good Counsel (Md.). The Hawks will close out the regular season this Friday against Monsignor Bonner.

3. Central Catholic (+2)

Central Catholic hammered Seneca Valley 60-7 over the weekend to move to 7-2 on the season. The Vikings dropped the opening two games of the year to St. Frances Academy (Md.) and No. 6 Pine-Richland before rattling off seven consecutive wins. Canon-McMillan is on deck on Friday.

4. Malvern Prep

Malvern shut out Haverford 27-0 over the weekend ahead of its game with William Penn Charter this week. The Friars lost a heartbreaker to LaSalle College by just four points in week one before bouncing back with a big win over Delbarton (N.J.). Malvern has also beaten the top teams in both Delaware and Washington, D.C.

5. Upper Saint Clair (+1)

Upper Saint Clair is still undefeated following a 35-7 win against Moon Area on Friday. The Panthers will host Baldwin this Friday as huge favorites. Significant wins for USC include No. 9 Peters Township and No. 20 Bethel Park.

6. Pine-Richland (-3)

Pine-Richland fell three spots after losing 28-21 to No. 7 North Allegheny over the weekend — the Rams’ first loss of the season. They will look to bounce back this week against Shaler Area to close the regular season.

7. North Allegheny (+2)

North Allegheny picked up a staple win over the weekend, beating then-No. 3 Pine-Richland 28-21 at home. The Tigers are 7-1 on the year, their lone loss coming in late October to No. 3 Central Catholic. Up next is Seneca Valley this Friday.
