Let’s dive into the latest rankings in high school football across the state of Pennsylvania.
1. St. Joseph’s Prep School
The Hawks had a bye week and are still 1-1 on the season. Coming up Friday is a huge tilt though.
They get No. 4 Good Counsel (M.D.) on the road, so good luck with that. A win here and it’ll truly be no question who the best team in Pennsylvania is going into October.
2. LaSalle College
LaSalle handled No. 29 Haverford on Saturday, winning 34-6. Massey’s ratings actually predicted a 35-14 win, so the Explorers took care of business.
The next ranked matchup for LaSalle is October 5th, when they take on St. Joseph’s Prep. That’ll be your de facto who’s No. 1 game in a few weeks.
3. Roman Catholic (+6)
Roman Catholic took out Malvern Prep, which dropped out of the top 10 as you’ll below. This was a huge win for the Cahillite.
Massey’s ratings predicted a 35-20 win for Malvern, but Roman Catholic flipped that result and won 21-17 on the road. Welcome to the top three in Pennsylvania.
4. Pine-Richland (-1)
Pine-Richland took down North Hills 29-24 on Friday night, but the game was a little close for comfort. Massey’s ratings had this as a 41-7 win for the Rams.
Regardless if it was close, the Rams are still a top five team in Pennsylvania. Next up is a road date at Plum High School.
5. Peters Township (+1)
Peters is now 4-0 on the season after winning 35-6 over Trinity. The Massey ratings predicted a 42-6 win so it was pretty close prediction wise.
With the win, the Indians moved into the top five in Pennsylvania. The next ranked matchup comes on the road at No. 12 Upper Saint Clair on the 27th.
6. North Allegheny (+1)
The Tigers dominated 42-14, beating Hempfield Area Friday night. The winning streak continued and North Allegheny remained undefeated.
They moved up in Pennsylvania’s rankings per Massey. Next up is Norwin and the next ranked matchup is No. 9 Central Catholic on the 27th.
7. Manheim Township (-2)
The Blue Streaks dropped two spots in the Pennsylvania rankings, per Massey, despite a win on the road. However, the 20-18 win over Plymouth-Whitemarsh was not like the predicted 42-12 romp.

Currently, there’s not a ranked matchup on Manheim’s schedule the rest of the way. Still, there might be room to move up with more wins.
8. Freedom (+2)
The Massey Ratings had Freedom losing this week! That didn’t happen as they took down No. 20 Nazareth 38-10.
This is a team that was predicted to lose 26-24! Talk about a surprising result, at least from the date. Freedom stayed in the top 10 of Pennsylvania and moved up two spots as a result.
9. Central Catholic (+2)
The Vikings really took care of business on Friday, beating Mt. Lebanon 59-7 after being predicted to win 42-8 per the Massey Ratings. It was the second straight week Central Catholic scored over 50 points.
Central Catholic goes against a ranked team on September 27th when North Allegheny comes to town. A few more wins and this Vikings’ squad might be top five in Pennsylvania.
10. Harrisburg (-2)
Harrisburg took care of business as usual with a 35-14 win over Chambersburg after being predicted to win 44-7. The Cougars don’t have a ranked matchup until No. 43 Central Dauphin plays host on October 26th.
However, this team is still in the top 10 of Pennsylvania, but they’re teetering on the next tier. Harrisburg is pretty much expected to go undefeated based on the schedule.
